A Lifetime Love.
Hey,
.
How strange love is.
.
And how closely would you be bound together with someone you have been in love with for almost 70 years.
This is the story of a couple who were married long ago, after courting for three years
.
They had three children, all boys, and enjoyed their grandchildren and also a great grandchild.
.
Theirs was a quiet story of a longtime love and devotion.
.
Bert Swan was an expert Metallurgist who travelled the world to advise on his subject, while Dorothy devotedly looked after their family at home.
.
They were inseparable, especially in retirement, which allowed them to fully enjoy each others company.
.
As they grew older, they were unable to cope alone anymore, as Doreen had developed Dementia, and decided to move into a nursery in Ramsbury, Wiltshire.
.
It was sad that because of his wife’s condition, it was not possible for them to be together there, but they would meet and sit quietly holding hands after kissing each other ‘hello’.
.
.
Eventually, Dorothy died in the nursing home at the grand old age of 91.
Bert was not told of her death as he was in hospital suffering from a chest infection.
He died 11 hours after his wife did.
.
They will now share a joint funeral next week in Ramsbury, together in death as they were in life.
.
I imagine that it is all exactly as they would have wished it to be.
.
God Bless Them.
