A Long Trek In 4″Heels.

Hey,

.

Life is quiet here.

I am still not doing a great deal, but everything is cool.

.

I fear that the summer is going now because everything is mainly grey and damp, with only the odd sunny day now, and the temperature has mostly fallen.

We have had to dig out the old sweaters and woollies again,

Boo.

.

Yesterday I went to the Library to get some more books out.

On my way back home I saw a big toad….or frog?

It was making it’s way up the pavement, beside the main road, and it was very dried up looking with bits of rubbish and bird feathers stuck to it.

There was nowhere good that it could be going to, except under the wheels of someone’s car.

.

As I was wondering what to do, a woman came up with a child in a pushchair and one small boy.

They all saw the poor thing and stopped to look.

The mother stopped too for a moment, before carrying on, while the boy stayed behind to poke at the poor creature and frighten it.

As it began to hop perilously close to the road, I told him it was not a good idea for him to do that because he was scaring it, and I then picked it up.

It was so huge that my hand would not go all of the way around it so it’s back legs were sticking out somewhat.

.

I then had to decide what to do with it….which had to be to find somewhere damp.

Unfortunately for me, I was wearing 4″ heel boots, which was a bad choice for rescuing toads in need.

.

We, toad and I, ended up taking a long walk, until I got into the countryside a bit and then I put him down in a damp place in the shadows, with water nearby.

Hopefully, from my point of view, it was a toady sort of place for him and he would be able to manage there.

.

I then staggered off again, heaving my bag of books with me.

.

Later on, of course, instead of feeling good about the toad, I began to worry.

Perhaps it was a lady toad, with children, who were now starving to death.

Perhaps no other toads lived in that place I left it.

Perhaps there was a knot of toads there and they do not like other strange toads who suddenly arrive in their territory.

Perhaps it got lost and was frightened etc, etc.

.

Sometimes you can’t do right for doing wrong.

Perhaps I should stop rescuing things like crows or Walter pigeon!

.

And the Library books were mostly rubbish too!

.

Have a good one,

J,x.
