Adrenaline Junkies.

Hey,

.

Well, this is another damp, grey, warm day that I have got myself into….again!

.

This is definitely like living in a humid jungle, all the more so because Big H and I are totally covered in fly bites, and my goodness do they itch….and itch….and itch.

This weather must have allowed millions of the little buggers to breed.

Perhaps there are immigrant malaria flies, that have come back to the UK on holiday planes, living and breeding here now here now.

I am getting so that I do not want to go for walks anymore because the results can be so awful now.

Like a proper fraidy-cat….like Tom.

.

I expect that you all know by now that I actually  AM a proper fraidy-cat when it comes to anything too sporty and sweaty.

If it does not involve me sitting with a glass of cold white wine and my feet up, then it is too strenuous for me.

(Yes,yes, I know what I said before but I am not going to stop altogether!)

However that does not mean that sometimes I am fascinated by the things some people do for their own excitement….and that of the ‘people who only sit and watch’….namely me.

.

I am particularly fascinated and horrified by the amazing people who leap about from building to building.

Those known as Free Runners.

.
My goodness, all they need to do is wear their underpants on the outside and they will be Superman!
.
I have already posted about my previous discovery of liquid mountaineering and free solo climbing, and even spelunking.
.
Land speedsailing also a very good spectator sport.
It can also be relatively cheap if you have DIY skills because you can manufacture your own machine using a windsurfing sail and then adding a buggy to it if you want to sit, or a board to stand on.
.
I believe that you also need a very large beach which is a lot quieter than usual.
You definitely cannot afford to be knocking down dog walkers, squashing sunbathers or arriving at very rocky areas.
.
A New Zealand inventor named Paul Beckett devised the Blokart in his garage in 1999, which looks great and spares the need for inspired innovation on your part, but it is obviously a lot more expensive.
.
This is Blokarting on the Wijk aan Zee Beach.

.

.
The sport was originally, officially, developed in 1978 by Baron Arnoud de Rosnay, because of his wish to sail across the sand sea of the Sahara Desert, in a self propelled land vehicle.
.
Talk about fast though.
In March 2009, Richard Jenkins, a British man, broke the World Landspeed Record by reaching 126 mph in Greenbird.

.
I may have been accused of ‘being fast’ but never ‘going fast’, but you have to admire the people who are driven to provide such excitement for the rest of us,
Have a good one.
J,x.

Link to post about more extreme sport…OMG!
