Another Little Black Dress.

Hey,

.

I am up early today because I awoke during a bad dream and now I cannot get back to sleep, or perhaps I am just unwilling to risk picking up the dream where I left off.

Better safe than sorry in this instance I expect, and I am not a very enthusiastic sleeper at the best of times.

.

The birds are fed and happy already, once again surprising me with their single minded greed.

This morning I put out some chapattis, torn into quite large pieces and I still watched them packing as many of the bits into their beaks as possible before flying away again.

Perhaps they are feeding fledglings by now, or perhaps they are just getting greedier now that they are used to all of this regular free food.

They do arrive in large numbers very very quickly indeed.

.

Today I am hoping to manage a visit to my favourite antique shop because I have become obsessed by a dress that I saw there, on the classic clothes rail.

It does not seem to be too old though, as it is polyester, that being the reason that I did not purchase it the moment that I saw it there.

.

It is the sort of thing that Marilyn Monroe might have worn.

Mid-calf length, black lace over a flared underskirt and a fitted top.

When I first saw it the fine lace was easily lifting in a draught….very feminine.

Normally I prefer a fitted sheath type of thing….a bit like Audrey Hepburn….but this one is pretty nice.

.

The reason that I dislike polyester is that I am very prone to static electricity ( that reminds me of Big H’s hilarious experience with the Hammerite paint!), so man-made stuff like that is inclined to cling embarrassingly in an unlovely fashion.

What I would like to do is try the garment on and swish about in it a bit, to see if that happens with this particular item.

.

I think that I am hoping that it was made long ago and the polyester might not be so bad as a result.

I is probably a useless endeavour really, but I am a bit obsessed by the thought of it and trying it on will stop me thinking about it so much.

Of course someone else may have already bought it by now, so I shall just have to see.

.

It will be interesting anyway, although I have  no plans for going anywhere that would require such a dress….luckily I do sometimes get all dolled-up for no reason at all except to feel great and please Big H too.

Sometimes he will go and put on his dinner suit too, so that we can have a dance together etc.

.

We have had fun that way many times.

After all, you get all dressed up when you first meet someone special don’t you, so why stop!

.

So, on with my day.

Perhaps yours will include the possibility of buying a new dress too….especially if you are a girl!

J,x.

      Hey Nelly,

Sorry to have been incommunicado for so long.

We have been away in a place with no broadband, mobile phone signal, etc.

Hoping you are happy, bright-eyed and bushy tailed.

Glad to hear that you have been a little worried over there….makes me feel all warm!!!

    hey Jackie –
Congrats on the *event* . saw a few of mr. T’s photos. place, bride, groom look stunning!

if you vanished for a few days, I’d notice — so don’t think just because you’re an ocean away I won’t remember 😉

it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, which is awful – I want to get some sun and travel along the eastern area of my province a little. fingers crossed the rain holds off 🙂

    nelly.
