Black Friday Bonanza.

Hi,

.

So today is the start of a Black Friday shopping bonanza at Amazon.co.uk.

It begins today and continues up until next Friday…or should I say Black Friday.

.

According to the Amazon site, this week of reductions includes up to 60 or 70% off lots of fabulous items which would be wonderful for Christmas, or personal, presents.

.

It seems that in the USA they have long had a sort of pre-Christmas shopping tradition.

In that country Black Friday is the day that follows Thanksgiving, it is the day that begins a seasonal buying extravaganza where the shoppers go wild to make the most of the huge price reductions on a wide range of items.

.

Americans apparently don’t really shop until Black Friday because of the general feeling that no shop will really put on the best deals until then.

Traditionally they expect to get really big reductions on large items like televisions, and perhaps things that they could not normally afford to purchase.

.

The shopping seems to start in the early hours on the Internet and continue until the Black Friday window of opportunity closes.

.

The deals on Amazon began this morning, so it will be interesting to see how profitable this try out is for them, although British tastes do not always follow those of America.

.

It must be a mad time in the USA as I believe that their shopping frenzy can be so great that there was an incident at a Walmart store in Valley Stream two years ago, where shoppers actually got badly trampled by the crowds of shoppers.

No wonder a lot of them now go on-line in the early hours to search out the bargains in comfort.

.

I have read that, as usual, there another side to the coin, where some Americans  are disgusted by the blatant consumerism they see, and they want to protest by seeking to turn Black Friday into a ‘let’s not shop at all day’….somehow I don’t think that they will succeed!

.

So, what are your feelings.

Are you up for this British version!

Are you going for it!
