Can You ‘Taak Geordie’.
Hey,
.
Well here we are, beginning to eat into yet one more week.
OK, it is a Monday, but it will only last for a day!
.
It is nice to start the week with a smile though.
.
Although I was born a Geordie, and have lived in the area for most of my life, I have never realised that posh southerners are at risk of not understanding a word that we say to them.
Apparently they can’t ‘taak Geordie’. .
.
An Example of it…from Little Bobby Thompson…a North-East legend.
.
.
Perhaps the iconic ‘Get Carter’ film never actually made any sense to them all and was watched more in a bemused ‘strange tribes of the upper Amazon’ type of fashion.
Perhaps Cheryl Cole is so popular because she is found to be somewhat exotic in her speech too.
.
Well, it has finally been made clear that we are all totally foreign and unintelligible ‘up north’.
.
There is a London Firm called Today Translations, who have been advertising a job for a …’Geordie Translator’.
This person will be translating Geordie into Queen’s English for all of those unlucky folk who were born in the wrong place.
So far, the the CV e-mails have been flying in, and there have been almost 200 people applying.
Now they are busy making a shortlist of suitable candidates.
.
It seems that the company finds that trying to do business with people in the north-east is difficult for both foreigners and southerners to make sense of, because of the Geordie accent.
.
Bah….what a bloody cheek!
