Could The Fountain Of Life Have Flowed With Green Tea!

Good day,

.

It is a lovely day today.

The sky is a startling blue and the sun is shining.

It has been so very wet lately that you can almost see the steam rising as the area dries out, like damp clothes on an airer.

.

The work that is being done in the house is finally beginning to show.

I would hate to be a painter and live daily with the fumes of paints, thinners and that scary Nitromors stripper, it is bad enough putting up with it for a period of weeks.

If I wake up one morning soon, to find that I have suddenly grown another three eyes, then I will know what to blame.

.

Today there was a worrying supplement in The Times about Alzheimers.

What a scary thought it is that in the year 2050, there will be approximately 120 million people globally, who will have developed Alzheimer’s.

How awful is that prediction, and who will care for them all properly.

.

It is a common thing in the UK, to read about people with Alzheimer’s being put into care, and then their homes are sold in order to pay for the often substandard of care that they subsequently receive.

This means that after a lifetime of hard work they may have nothing left for their children to inherit.

They are often put onto a regime of antipsychotic drugs, which although dangerous and inappropriate, make the people with Dementia easier to handle.

.

How sad for them to know that their future is out of their hands, because they no longer have a home to return to, it must be like being told that you are surplus to requirements.

.

It seems to me that our government can find endless amounts of money to waste upon things that none of us want, but absolutely none at all for the care of the old, the infirm, or the mentally or terminally ill.

You can judge any society by the care it takes of it’s weakest and most helpless members.

That does not say much for the UK then!

.

There was another interesting squib in the paper about nutrition.

It would appear that if you drink Green Tea then you can possibly live longer, but given what I have just been talking about that could be  a scary thing!

.

Seriously though, it would appear that this tea has antibacterial, antithrombotic, antiviral, antioxidant properties.

It would further seem that it can help reduce bad cholesterol and give some protection against cancer.

.

People doing research in Hong Kong say that their findings show that Green Tea may help people to live longer.

This is because people drinking three cups of this tea per day were found to possess longer telomeres than other people.

These telomeres are relatively short sections of specialised DNA  found at the end of chromosomes.

Each time a cell divides they slightly erode.

Eventually they become so short that they lapse into senescence and stop dividing.

After this the classical signs of aging begin.

They suggest that it seems to be the Flavonoid chemicals in the tea that help to keep the cells youthful.

.

These telomeres are crucial in aging and last month three scientists won the 2009 Nobel Prize for their research into the subject.

.

Green Tea is already known to help prevent the development of gum disease….and is also thought to be a possible factor in preventing mouth cancers.

.

So there you are then….a possible magic cure for all the ills of ageing….the only bugbear is the disinterest of the politicians in the problems of ‘useless’ old people.

Perhaps we should feed them Green Tea in order to rejuvenate their withered areas of compassion for others.

.

Could Green Tea be what flowed in the Fountain of life!

Did you ever see that great old film ‘She”?

It was exciting at the time.  I think that Ursula Andress was the star.

YES, and this is the link.

.

Big H and I stopped drinking earl Grey tea some time ago, so we have been ahead of the game for a while. Excellent!

.

LOL
