Developments At Marble Arch, London.
Hi,
Just a quick one about Marble Arch in London.
.
.
What did you think of the new and permanent sculpture which has just been unveiled at the Marble Arch in London.
.
It is named ‘Horse at Water’ and has been created by Nic Fiddian-Green.
.
It is a free standing work in bronze, weighing 6 or 7 Tonnes and reaching 27 feet in height.
.
The whole of the Marble Arch area is undergoing a multi-million pound regeneration.
The new statue is a centerpiece of this and has been set up beside the Arch, which has been surrounded with new lighting.
There are also three fountains opposite the Arch which have also been repaired, the plan being to illuminate these patriotically, in red white and blue.
.
Marble Arch was, at one time, a part of the entry-gate into Buckingham Palace.
Unfortunately it was said to be unable to accommodate wider carriages and eventually ended up being relocated to it’s present site in 1851.
.
I’m all for improvements.
