Dinosaurs By Torchlight (And Cocktails).

Hi,

.

Monday begins, so make it a good start to a great week, as it is going to happen anyway!

.

So how was your weekend.

Did you find something interesting and different to do, or did you just loll about thinking that it would be good to do something different….if only you could find it.

.

We had a Sunday here which turned out to be tropical again by lunchtime, so we spent the whole of the afternoon in the garden, in order to get it back up to scratch.

Big H cut removed the stakes from our previously ‘baby’ trees and then gave the garden chair some serious grief for many hours while reading his latest library book, which was apparently totally enthralling.

He absolutely adores the DI John Rebus novels by Ian Rankin, which are set in Scotland.

.

This latest one is called  The Naming Of The Dead  and was new to him.

Usually he cannot find a one he has not read in the Library, so it was a big treat!

.

I am not a one to lie baking in the sun, so I trimmed an unfriendly Holly bush and then spent ages cutting out dandelions from the lawn until I had a big bagful.

It was then back home for me and putting my feet  up, out of the heat.

.

It is great to find a new and exciting type of outing.

I think that the last really different one I wanted to experience was the Abba evening at the National Trust site which ended up being very frustrating.

.

It is best to be in big cities for that sort of thing.

Cities like London are good if you live near enough to places like the Natural History Museum, which has had some amazing things taking place in the last few years.

.

Well, they have a new and good night out happening there very soon.

.

On Sept 24th the Museum is taking part in a Europe-wide festival Of Science.

Science uncovered is suitable for adults but children are welcome in the early evening.

There are Barbary lion skulls from the Tower Of London and the first maggot used for a crime conviction, plus many more things.

.

But, the most interesting bit for me is the exclusive ‘limited place’ tours, such as the ‘Torchlight Tour Of The Dinosaur Gallery’!

Plus the ‘science bars’ where you can enjoy cocktails while chatting with relaxed Museum staff about anything and everything scientific.

What a grand way to spend an evening.

.

Did you know that there are even sleep-over events happening too….in the Hall with the Dinosaurs?

What a great place to be a kid!

.

So, on with the day.

J.

…plus a fabulous Museum page on expeditions and collections….
