Dog Eats His Master’s Toe.

We all woke up to a miserable day here but a rainy Saturday probably beats a sunny Monday for most people.

What would you do if you had woken up this morning and found your dog was sitting beside you in the bedroom after eating your toe and leaving you with a pool of blood.
No, this is not an impossibility…it actually did happen recently in Michigan.

What happened was that a Jack Russell terrier chewed off his master’s big toe while he was lying asleep after passing out drunk at his home.
The dog’s owner, who is 48, had been suffering from an infected toe for some time.

Mr Douthett had been afraid to seek medical help for his ailment, but had finally been intending to do something about it.
When he finally awoke, he found his dog in the room beside him, his toe was gone and there was a pool of blood.

The toe was nowhere in the room, or the house.
It has never been found, which seems to suggest that the dog ate it.
.
When he went to seek medical attention, the doctors found that the man had been unknowingly suffering from Type 2 Diabetes and the infection had invaded the bone.
The rest of the toe needed amputating.

Mr Douthett thinks that the dog saved his life by sensing that there was a life-threatening condition in the infected toe, and therefore removed the threat to his master.

The ‘life-saving’ canine hero is still living with his loving and grateful family, although he is still being carefully monitored by the relevant official people.

The upside is that the man is said to have stopped drinking now.
