Dogs Will Eat Strange Things If You Are Not careful!

Hey,

.

Sunday greetings to you.

.

Today was forecast to be an extremely hot day, and at present we have a 50% blue sky, and it does feel enticingly warm.

Most excellent so far then!

.

I think that I hear the garden calling me.

.

However I must complete today’s task before I go…..so….

This post is going to be about a subject already familiar to some of you who have read my past posts.

.

A definite case of deja-vous, where only the names are different.

.

The following case was recently written up in an issue of the Journal Of American Podiatric Medicine.

An American woman, 48, suffering from diabetic neuropathy, had her infected toe chewed off by her Jack Russell dog.

.

Because of her condition she felt no pain in her numb foot while it was happening.

In fact she only realised that something was very wrong when she eventually awoke to see blood smeared around the bedroom.

.

Unfortunately, a part of her toe had already been eaten by then.

The resulting wound was dealt with by prompt surgery, but her leg later became infected and ulcerated, eventually resulting in part of her leg having to be removed.

.

She is now a double amputee.

.

Medical specialists do advise people with conditions such as type 2 diabetes to keep their wounds properly covered, because pets will lick wounds if possible, which can lead to chewing and to possible saliva carried infections.

.

Luckily, the new tests may help stop the type 2 diabetes from being so prevalent in the future.

.
