Feeling A Bit Windy.

Hi,

.

Whoaahh….things are wild and windy here at the moment.

.

Yesterday we received the tail-end of Hurricane Katia as it arrived fresh from it’s journey across the Atlantic from America.

.

Big H and I have been stuck in the house for the last three days because our boiler went haywire, and there has been no heating and no hot water since Friday

.

On Saturday, engineer was supposed to be here between 8am and 1pm, but finally arrived at 2pm. and effectively stopped us getting out to the shops to purchase some very necessary items such as green tea.
He spent ages looking into the boiler’s mystical innards, but finally said that he could not find the fault and declared that everything was now working properly.

.

I quickly dashed upstairs for a bath and ran the water until it was getting hot before I put in the plug to start filling the bath.
As soon as there was 6″ or so in there, I jumped in.
Unfortunately it was stone cold!

.

I got dried quickly and put my clothes back on, before coming downstairs to try and warm up again in a house with no heating anymore!

.

We called the engineers immediately, and they apologised, before promising to come back first thing on Sunday morning to fix the problem.
A chilly night was had by all.

.

The poor engineer was with us for hours on the Sunday, before saying that we needed a new board, and he would be back at 8am on Monday morning with the new part so that he could fix the problem.

.

So yesterday we got up early and the chap did arrive at about eightish.
He replaced the faulty board….it made no difference at all….and six hours later he finally had to admit that he could not find the problem because it obviously had not been caused by the previous ‘faulty’ board!
.
A chilly evening, with endless amounts of cold water, was enjoyed by all!

.

Finally, late yesterday afternoon, we actually managed to get out to do our urgent shopping, and walked straight into the high winds that were so strong that my beanie actually got blown off and I felt that I might be carried away at any moment, just like Dorothy in the Wizard Of Oz.
I felt a bit like this man filmed at Malin Head in Ireland, as the remnants of Katia arrived there.

.

We now need to stay in again today, because our original and totally frustrated engineer is returning once more, accompanied by another engineer from the firm who produced our huge boiler in the first place….and they will try to work out what is going wrong.
.

And the winds are still here.

.

In nearby Durham it was so bad that a roof blew off and crashed down onto a line of innocent cars that were just minding their own business!

.

.

And ferry services have been cancelled due to high seas and fierce winds.
.
.
.

Largs, Scotland, was feeling the effects too.

So, hopefully the situation with the boiler will be fixed later today and then we can warm-up a bit and have some hot baths too.
My goodness, don’t we take things for granted nowadays!

.

I hope that you are not caught being too windy yourself today!

So, is this a better way to present troublesome news?
Does it take a person’s mind off it?
