Freya’s Day Is Here.

So it is Friday once more.
I have always loved them, so thank goodness there is one in every week!

There is always such a good feeling on a Friday because there is the possibility of a great evening out, joined with the possibilities of a weekend.
The world is definitely your lobster on a Friday…..and of course there can be lie-ins at the weekend if you want them.
I never really used to have them when I was young because there was always too much that I wanted to do, but I enjoyed the thought that I could if I wanted too.

Talking of lie-ins, I have only just got up and it is ten am.
That is incredibly late for me to finally be up and about.
Big H went over to his friend’s house to play computer games as usual, so I had a quiet night.
I used it to settle down in a chair and catch up on all the programmes that I have recorded for myself, that Big H hates to watch.
Therefore, I enjoyed myself enormously, aided by two cans of ice cold Guinness, one can of McEwan’s beer, a ham and feta cheese wrap, a bowl of hazelnuts and the remains of a large bag of dried tropical mix.

My god, that makes me sound like a total pig.

I AM a total pig!

I think that I probably slept in because it is so very dark here at the moment.
The sky is a brooding dark grey and everything is soaking wet, reflecting what light there is.
I looked out of the window and all there is to see is a street full of colourful umbrellas buzzing about from shop to shop.

It is like a monochrome painting with little vivid dabs of colour in it,
Like a scene from a French film.
Perhaps Catherine Deneuve in Les Parapluies De Northumberland! Or perhaps not!

Did you know that the days of the week are named after the Norse and Roman gods, therefore Friday is derived from Freya’s Day or Frigg’s Day.
That leaves Saturday derived from Saturn’s Day.
Sunday from Sun’s Day.
Monday from Moon’s Day.
Tuesday from Tiu’s day or Tyr’s Day.
Wednesday from Woden’s Day,
And Thursday from Thor’s day.
That it is way exotic in my opinion, but I hate to think of all the fascinating things that I still don’t know….and time is getting short now!
