Good Clothes And Bad Television.
Hi.
.
Middle of the week again…excellent!
.
The weather has picked up a bit now, and it is about time too after all the rain.
Yesterday started heavy and grey, but by teatime we had pale blue sky and lukewarm sunshine.
As we had to go into town for Big H to have an eye test, it turned out to be a very pleasant outing.
.
While he was waiting for his test, I went to return a coat that I bought on-line from TK Max.
I had ordered two and was very pleased with one of them, made by Ronit Zilkha, which was a black, irregular hem, wool coat…with a bustle!
Unfortunately the other one was too tight on the shoulders, which was a big disappointment because it had epaulets and a military front with millions of silver buttons all the way down.
Still, one is lovely and totally different.
I have told you before that I have taste, I just did not say that it was all good!
.
I have to say that it is always worth having a look in that shop.
I mean, you sometimes have to look through a lot of crap but there are usually some hidden gems.
.
Yesterday, for instance, there were some beautiful big fringed cushions, all embroidered, with shedloads of fabulous tassells and feather inners.
And over 50% off too, but I already bought mine a while ago.
.
Big H is a bit tired now with all of the walking we had to do but I let him play for hours on his XBox so he is very happy with life.
He is still enjoying the new game of Halo, although he swears at it a lot, which gives me a fright because he has his headphones on and the room is quiet.
Ahhhhh!
.
Actually, I am quite pleased with the XBox at the moment because it provided us with an entertaining evening recently.
There was nothing on the television at all and I did not want to watch rubbish so he looked up available films on it….don’t ask me how.
Once we decided on one, he downloaded it, and we ended up having a movie night with beer and popcorn, watching Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe.
I really enjoyed it because it did not have all of that hackneyed ‘Sherwood Forest outlaw’ stuff in it.
It was the tale of how that all began, in France, and it was well done by Ridley Scott.
I would recommend it, and as far as Russell Crowe is concerned, the answer is still a resounding ‘Yes’.
.
.
Talking about television, did you hear about the three year old boy in America, who seems to have become trapped in the world of Thomas The Tank Engine?
.
This child has been watching five hours of television every day and his case has been featured in the ‘Journal Of Developmental And Behavioural Pediatrics’
.
The boy is called Max, and his mother allegedly believes that he should watch as much television as he wishes as long as it is considered suitable material, such as the Disney Channel.
It was the staff at his nursery who became worried about him because he kept obsessively repeating phrases from programmes such as ‘Thomas The Tank Engine’.
He seemed to be in his own world and unable to play or interact with the other children, only able to walk around repetitively parroting phrases from the cartoons.
.
Doctors are now worried about his future ability to develop properly and communicate, and many experts worldwide are saying that the problem is growing in many countries now as children are not being stimulated properly.
The thought is that it may be best if children under two do not watch any television at all and even the children from three to five years old should be limited to one hour per day.
They say it has been too easy to park children down in front of a television and this means that they are not being spoken to by their parents, which causes communication difficulties and also obesity and illness.
Guidelines are being considered by many governments at the moment.
France has already banned shows being made if they are specifically targeting very young children and Australia is working on their guidelines to suggest banning television for those who are under two.
It is worrying isn’t it!
.
Have an exciting ‘real life’ yourself today.
J,x.
