Help For Rheumatoid Arthritis Sufferers?

Hey,,

.

Even more useful information drawn from The Times today.

.

It seems that there are currently about 40,000 patients, with Rheumatoid Arthritis, who cannot be helped with available medications.

.

For the last decade there were no new medications developed that could help these people.

Tocilizumab is the first.

It is administered by injection.

.

There have been trials carried out on 4,000 people which have resulted in easing the painful symptoms and transforming the lives of the patients.

.

These 4,00 have raised hopes for all those who were previously unable to tolerate the other available therapies or were no longer gaining benefit from them.

.

Unfortunately it has not yet been given approval for widespread use on the NHS as it would cost £9,300 per year for just one patient.

.

Hopefully it will soon be relieving the suffering of those who want to try it.

.
