Hobbits Are Approaching Your Nearest Cinema Soon.

Hi,

.

Did you know that the last ‘The Pirates Of The Caribbean’ film, starring Johnny Depp, was the most expensive film ever made.

.

It was completed at a huge cost at the time but it will soon be taken over by one of the newest films to go into production.

.

This will be the new prequel to the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy.

The estimated cost of ‘The Hobbit’ will be in the region of a mind boggling $500m (£315m).

This leaves ‘The Pirates’ looking quite economical at a cost of almost $200m less!

.

This film will be a four hour epic, to be shot in both HD and 3D, which will be directed by Sir Peter Jackson, hopefully for release in December 2012.

As it is so long it will be divided into two parts, so this should build up the hype, and the profits, as hopefully everyone who sees the first film will be totally hooked.

.

As is usual where unimaginable sums of money are involved there are problems.

The Tolkien estate started a legal battle when the last films made such a profit, the donnish author having previously sold the film rights to Hollywood for $10,000 in 1969, plus 7.5% of the royalties after costs.

Apparently they now have further things to be worked out with regard to the rights to shoot the new films.

Although Jackson is already building a Hobbit village in new Zealand, there are demands from the local actors’ union for more money, which could end up in the choice of moving to some less problematic country.

Legal fees for just reaching the production stage are said to already have reached $1,000,000.

.

Some people at Warner Bros-New line Cinema have said that they are hoping to tie all of the ends up soon, and approve production.

At ‘approximately’ $500m….so perhaps even more!

O.M.G.!

.

It appears that the new films will tell the tale of a magical adventure to find gold which has been stolen by a dragon….if there is any left now of course….gold that is!

.

Here are the trailers for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy- as if you have not seen them all by now.

But for the odd person who has been living quietly in a remote cave for many years- enjoy!

The Fellowship Of The Ring. 2001.

.
The Two Towers. 2002.

.
The Return Of The King. 2003.

.
.
I have a strange feeling myself that people may not be so consumed by the next two films, and if not, it could be another Cleopatra.

But then again I know bugger-all about it.

Have a magical day,

j,x.
