I Felt Like A Polar Explorer.

Hello.,

And a happy Tuesday to you,

.

Nothing much has changed up here, we are still freezing cold, with piles of frozen snow all over the place.

.

Yesterday Big H thought that we should go and see how our little car was coping with the extreme snowfall over the past week or so.

.

Well, first we had to locate the large mound of snow that seemed to be our car, then we begin to scrape off the couple of foot of icy snow that was concealing it.

Big H managed to clear the driver’s door and then got in to hopefully try the engine.

So far so good.

.

We then had to spend hours trying to get the snow off, with the help of a warming-up interior.

It was awfully hard work and by the time we were halfway through I could not feel my fingers.

But we managed to clear it down to a tolerable level and the heater did a sterling job of eventually melting the solid sharp ice on all of the windows.

.

We tried to move it to give it a bit of a run to charge the battery but it was stuck where it had been parked, even though we had cleared our new piles of snow away as best we could.

At one point, a rather handsome young man with a shovel appeared, to help us out, after hearing the engine revving up so much.

.

He was a lovely guy who had been in a neighbouring drive trying to clear it so that the old lady who lived there could get out a bit.

.

He did his best for us, but everything was frozen solid, and we could not get away at all.

It was however, very nice to see how some of the local people will help others if they can

Never mind, there is all tomorrow not touched yet, and it may not snow again tonight, although I would not bet anything very important on it.

.

The worst bit, was that when we eventually got home my hands eventually started really hurting, and most of the nails on my right hand were smashed and jagged.

Even hours later the tops of my two middle fingers were still numb, and even today one of them feels as if it is stuffed with cotton wool at the tip.

I wonder if anyone else has possible frostbite from digging out a car.

.

Not quite as impressive as getting frostbitten while exploring Antarctica is it!

.

Anyway, it was a good excuse for a enjoying nice big whiskey once I got home, and also having some Bombay Mix to munch.

.

I hope that you are warm, and well fed, without a single patch of frostbite in sight.

.

Take Care,

J,x
