I Might Swap Our Cow.
Greetings to you all,
.
Things are picking up here.
Not only was I greeted by a most beautiful morning…although very cold….but Big H is up and about again, and looking pink instead of a horrible grey colour.
So we are not in for at least a few weeks of him being an old-commie-pinko-sicko.
No meals to be carried upstairs, no bottles, no bedpans, no ‘is there anything else you need?’
.
Yippeeee.
.
The painters are here, and already painting away like beavers….Eh! I mean beavering away like painters….Better!
.
The roofers have also arrived but they cannot begin working until the world warms up a bit.
It would appear that the roof is covered in ice, and is extremely slippy, and even the boards on the levels up through the scaffolding are covered in ice too, so it is far too dangerous to climb about at the moment.
Obviously it will be far too cold for any alfresco exhibitions of extremely tight buns today. Shame!
.
I spoke to my brother yesterday and he was worried to hear that Big H has been ill again.
He reminded me that there has been no move to get a second opinion from the local specialist in tropical diseases that he found out about, and I promised to make an appointment with our own doctor to get a referral.
.
Big H kept saying that he would do it but he really does not have the energy for anything extra to just getting through each day..especially with the cold temperatures now.
.
I promised that I would make the appointment for him and make sure that he goes.
Isn’t it lovely when people care about you!
.
I DID make the draught excluder yesterday.
I cut up a grey fleece of Big H’s, and then sewed a long sausage, leaving the front flap of the fleece intact on the zip in order to cover it up on the finished item.
It looked good, so I dug out some big, real pearl buttons from my box and sewed one on each end of my creation, and then three others at intervals along the zip flap.
.
Inside I put a leg from a pair of tights, which I stuffed with Habico washable polyester filling.
This was left over from making a big, black velvet cat for a very special little girl.
I have seen cushion covers for sale, which are made of grey boiled wool, and the zip across the back is covered by a similar flap sporting big buttons as decoration.
They are not cheap and my excluder looks very similar.
.
Big H hates it so that probably means that I have got it just right!
.
The most important thing though, is that it does work, and it has made the room a lot more pleasant to be in.
I am a Genius!
Well, it is usable..and that is a pretty great result as far as I am concerned.
.
If there is any more sewing to do I must see if we can overhaul the old 1940′s hand powered sewing machine that we bought on the spur of the moment, as the ends of my fingers are a bit punctured and sore today.
The old machine is very pretty, with a black background and then a lot of beautiful gold flowers painted upon it.
The wooden case is pretty too, and curved, with a turned wood handle on the top.
.
We bought it from e-bay for about £35 and it is lovely.
To be honest, it did smell a bit inside the case, but we sprayed Oust into it and left it for a few weeks. Now it is OK.
There were also some dead spiders in it.
I am afraid that you have to take the descriptions of things being in ‘pristine’ condition, with a bit of salt! You can get some real humdingers!
But it is fun waiting to see what you get for your money.
.
I might exchange our cow for some magic beans next!
.
I hope that you are feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to grab this new week by the balls.
,
LOL
