I’m Still In The Dark.

Good Morning Peeps,

.

And so here I am again, in a somewhat familiar place.

Sitting here writing a post in the early hours of the morning, with only the sound of a slight smattering of rain against the windows to keep me company.

.

It is a cold four o’clock in the morning ….. well come on, …. in the UK nowadays it is far too expensive to heat the house overnight.

The central heating will eventually switch on at the much later hour of 7.30, if I have not succumbed to an icy death before then!

.

I am wearing Big H’s thick towelling dressing gown, as well as my own, and my big sheepskin boots, so I feel relatively warm, although I probably do have a bright red nose.

As you know, this has always been my winter look….the luminous red nose that is!

.

The problem tonight has been my painful and stiff neck, which began when I got up yesterday morning.

I have tried lying very straight in the bed, with my neck supported on two fluffed-up pillows, but I just have not been able to sleep comfortably at all.

.

This has not been helped by Big H deciding to lie facing me for a change, and then snoring loudly, as well as doing some strange form of cycling, which involves scratching the side of my leg with his toenails and continually putting his arm across my head.

I got so irritated by him that I was in danger of doing him some not-so-subtle damage….and that would have been unkind!

.

Anyway, it is beautiful to see the world when everyone else seems to be fast asleep.

Tonight there is no moon to be seen and the darkness is heavy.

I find myself realizing how black the night actually is, when you look at the places not covered by the streetlights.

.

No wonder the people living long ago believed in goblins, fairies, and other creatures of the night.

I mean, with tallow candles, they could hardly see the corners of their rooms, never mind anything else.

For anyone with an active imagination it must have been very scary indeed.

.

Talking about scary, there must be a lot of people feeling very scared at the moment because for them today is the end of the world isn’t it…. or perhaps it is not frightening them, because they probably also think that they will be chosen to go straight up to heaven in The Rapture.

But then again, that would surely be scary too….to suddenly rise up into the air, just when you are popping out to buy some bread at the Spar shop…. AND you are looking like a proper dog’s bottom because you thought nobody would see you, so you have no make-up on and your hair needs a wash!

.

Hmmmm …. perhaps I should play it safe and go and have a shower and do myself up a bit….it might ease my bloody neck too!

.

So, here’s hoping we meet again tomorrow.

But if not then I hope that our last day is a good one.

I might take the opportunity to eat lots of chocolate just in case it is a very final sort of day after all.

.

May see ‘ya,

Jaksie,x.
