It Could All Be A Lot Worse. Trust Me On This.

Hello,

.

My goodness this week is disappearing fast.

It is great to be able to go for walks and pop out to see a friend again instead of being marooned in the house by huge falls of snow and dangerous ice.

.

I was told yesterday, by a fellow buying meat pies in the Spar, that it is going to snow again, but I prefer to think of him as a nasty big fibber!

.

Life is getting to a very interesting period now because Big H will retire soon and we can make any choices that we wish.

The only problem is that time gets to be in short supply.

If you don’t seize the moment then you can suddenly find yourself too old to really change anything at all.

I see it myself where we live. People drift along very well for years and then you suddenly look at them one day and they are fragile and old.

.

Talking about people not having much time left.

I am reading a very scary non fiction book at the moment. I lent it to a friend who has finally returned it to me and now I am scaring myself all over again by rereading it..

.

The title is ‘The Hot Zone’, written by Richard Preston, and it is truly terrifying.

It is the facts about lethal viruses such as Ebola and Marburg which are entering human populations as man keeps destroying remote natural tropical rain forests and upsetting nature’s natural balance.

This book relates the facts about what happened when such a virus emerged in America.

It was brought across from Africa  with some imported monkeys who were kept in a facility in Washington DC.

.

A  virus like Ebola is an ancient thing, probably developed in primordial oceans, at the very birth of our world.

It’s genetic coding is contained inside one single RNA strand, a very ‘primitive’ form of life.

Perfect and unbelievably deadly.

This nightmare scenario is one which could be repeated again at any time and would devastate populations very quickly.

It is real life ‘Stephen King type stuff’ and truly reveals how helpless we would be in the face of such a holocaust

.

We definitely should live for the day.

Do not get too nervous though….at the moment we can eat Cadbury’s Mini Eggs, drink beer and buy new shoes….it could be worse.

.

Have a fine one yourself.

.

LOL
