It’s Curtains For Me!
Hi,
.
What a fabulous Friday I have woken up to today.
I don’t know what I did to deserve it, but it must have been something amazing because everything here is positively shining in the sunshine.
.
I shall try to get out and enjoy it today….especially after the day I had yesterday!
.
In the morning I made the mistake of hoovering one of the bedrooms.
As I lifted up the curtains in order to clean under them I was forcibly reminded that I had not yet cut off all of the excess material, about 2′ of it, and re-hemmed and tidied them, along with the inner linings.
That was it, I decided to do it right there and then, rather than have such a horrible job waiting for me to do it another time.
.
The next thing was that my sewing machine would not work because a piece had dropped off and Big H and I could not find it, the machine in question being an old but very pretty Singer, dating from the turn of the century.
Old but perfectly good, with black enamel and lots of gold flowers painted onto it.
It is also in a very nice brown wood case with a carrying handle.
Very heavy mind, it may be portable but I cannot actually carry it without the risk of damaging something I need in order to continue living!
.
Anyway, not to be put off, I stupidly decided to go ahead and do the work by hand.
.
Enough said….I finally stopped late in the evening, having had nothing to eat since my Warburton’s Potato Pancake at breakfast….and feeling tired, grumpy, dirty, sweaty and completely and totally fagged out.
I should have stopped halfway through, but I just could not have faced having to go back and do it another time.
Also, knowing myself well from past experience, it would probably have stayed half done for the rest of my life.
.
Needless to say, Big H made the most of the sunshine by going along to the garden to cut the lawn, and then sunbathing for the rest of the day, until it was time for him to go out to play computer games with his friend.
Good for him.
.
As for me, I was glad to just to have cheese on toast for tea, and then collapse in front of the television to watch American Idol….even the ads and the acts that I don’t like….that is how tired I ended up being.
.
So, that’s enough about my daft choices of things to do on a fabulous and rare sunny day.
What did you do yesterday.
Nothing to do with altering curtains I hope?
LOL,
J,x.
.
.
Howerver, the bloody awful job is done now and I can go and look in the room later today, and feel righteous.
