It’s Raining It’s Pouring.
HI,
.
Freezing cold and raining here today.
Definitely a day for snuggling up with a glass of whiskey and a good book
.
Last time we went to Tynemouth Market for a rummage around, Big H bought himself a few novels, one of which was ‘Azincourt’ written by Bernard Cornwell.
As I had nothing else to read, I gave it a try, and found it to be quite exciting.
Normally I would not be interested in the usual long drawn put descriptions of battles, but this was very clear and exciting .
All about a bowman called Hook fighting in the army of Henry V and culminating in the Battle Of Agincourt against overwhelming odds.
.
Now I have that strange empty feeling that you get, when you have finished a good book, without having yet another one ready to begin.
.
I have therefore decided that, even though it is pouring down today, I shall visit our local library and stock up on a load of books to fortify myself against what the weathermen say will be continuous bad weather for some time.
A good book, a good man and a good drink, what more could I ask!
.
I had better dig out the umbrella and my raincoat before I chicken out….I mean, it’s not as if I’ll shrink.
.

By the way, Tesco Direct had Go Go Hamster houses available for the proper reccemmended retail price today….but no Go Go Hamsters unfortunately.
hey Jackie -
I’m reading Wally Lamb’s “The Hour I first Believed”. So far, it’s a really interesting book (200 more pages to go!).
My winner this year for best written book and moving story is Lawrence Hill’s “The Book of Negroes”. It may be called “Someone knows my name” in England, depending on the publishers’ sensitivities. But it is phenomenal, I’m making everyone read it.
And if you’re into corporate ethics and responsibility (or lack thereof), I’ve finished Naomi Klein’s “The Shock Doctrine” recently, and it’s a must read for anyone who looks into disaster trends and its financial effects. I am biased though, as I love Klein’s work in general and she’s one heck of a button pusher (also considered a lefty – inaccurately so).
Hope you have fun with your good man/good book/ good wine weather
nelly.
Thanks Nelly,
.
There’s always time for a good book!

Jaksie.
