Jack Frost Is Visiting.

Hi,

.

Oooh, it is bloody freezing this morning.

.

I had one of my very early wake-up mornings again, and eventually had to get up at about 4.30am, because I got sick of lying in bed staring at the night.

.

It was probably my own fault this time because I got a bit pissed early on in the evening and just could not face the prospect when Big H wanted to watch one of his slash/bang/crash blockbuster-type films again.

What is it with guys and shooting and noise and no real plot!

.

Anyway, I snuggled into my beautifully heated bed and soon stopped reading, before quickly dropping off to sleep at about 10pm.

As this was many hours before I would normally retire, I only have myself to blame for the early rude awakening.

.

It was so cold when I got up that I could see my breath billowing out before me as I went to make a big pot of strong tea and toast a frozen Warburton’s Potato Pancake.

By then, I had gone back upstairs to add Big H’s dressing gown and his huge zipped fleece to the two dressing gowns of my own which I was already wearing….plus my big sheepskin boots and a T shirt.

I look like a 20 stone Nanook of the North …. with a very red and cold nose!

.

I have just looked at the long term weather forecast and was heartened to read that this freezing spell and intermittent snow is supposed to pass quickly and usher in warmer, clearer, more acceptable weather, so thank goodness for that.

I find that the older I get, the more I detest being cold.

Of course, I could just over-ride the central heating and warm the place up a bit, but that would be giving in ….and it would cost more …. and I am too bloody awkward to do it anyway.

Hey, we older people need something to complain about!

.

Oh, now that the sky is lightening a bit, I can see lots of dark shapes of birds, all perched in a silhouetted black line on the opposite rooftop.

Poor things, it must be hard to make a living when the ground is all frozen stiff. I must put out lots of stuff for them today to make sure that they get a decent breakfast.

I am also thinking of buying some bird-feeders for peanuts and stuff, because the big black crow-type birds that usually come to eat here will not let the little birds like robins take anything, under pain of a fierce squawking and pecking.

.

So, at this point, I think that I shall away and have my earlier breakfast all over again.

At this rate I will not need all of these layers of clothes in order to look as if I weigh about twenty stones …. so why do I always want to eat so much more in the winter …. is it comfort eating, necessary extra energy producing fuel, or just plain greed!

See ‘ya, and have a good day yourself.

J,x.
