Jacob Riis. Iconic And Life-Changing Work.

Hi,

.

Some people can make such a difference by how they choose to live their lives.
One such person was Jacob A. Riis.

.

Jacob Riis was originally Danish, although he later emigrated to America where he eventually became a police reporter.

He used the new of medium flash photography to make late-night visits to the worst slum areas of New York city, where he took his eye-opening photographs to show the unbelievably squalid conditions that some immigrants were living in.

.

.

He became any early hero of photojournalism.

.

His works included …

How The Other Half Lives 1891

The Children Of The Poor 1892

Out Of Mulberry Street 1896

Children Of The Tenements 1902

…He wanted to help, and to put forward the shocking information about the ways a certain strata of society were living, in order to eventually bring about reform.
