James Blunt Saves The World!
Hey,
.
Did you know that James Blunt is really Superman.
He actually saved the world!
.
It was reported in The Times, at the weekend, that he used to hold the rank of a Captain in the Lifeguards and told his story of helping to avert an international incident
.
It appears that in the Balkan conflict of 1999, an American General called Wesley Clark ordered our hero to attack some 200 soldiers who were in an airport in Kosovo.
.
They had arrived there before Captain Blunt, who had been told to go and take control of Pristina Airport.
James Blunt was all of 25 at that time, and he and his unit were in the vanguard of a large column of NATO soldiers, apparently numbering about 30,000 men.
.
They were faced by the 200+ Russian troops who were lined up with their weapons pointed.
.
At this point the General, ordered them via radio, to overpower the enemy…using aggressive words such as ‘destroy’.
Captain Blunt then decided not to obey the direct order from a superior officer because in order to prevent an international incident which could have accelerated into WW3.
.
Luckily cool heads eventually intervened in the form of the commander of the British forces General Sir Mike Jackson.
His sensible solution did not involve direct destruction and confrontation.
He recommended that the British troops should surround the airport and wait.
.
After a few days the Russians decided that they needed supplies, and offered to peacefully share the airport with the opposing force.
And all was well.
.
Captain Blunt was a very brave soldier to think out of the box and be prepared to risk an army court martial, following orders is always the easiest way out and often used to excuse regrettable actions.
.
When you think that he came from a family with long military traditions you can only admire the fact that he said he would have continued to refuse to carry out the aggressive orders rather than blindly obey them.
.
Not only is he handsome and brave, but he sings beautifully too!
.
Beautiful.
.
.
High.
.
.
Wisemen.
.
.
Well done him.
