John Wayne Rocks.

I woke very early this morning, probably due to so much excitement yesterday.
It certainly was not because Big H was sleeping badly, which is often the case.
it was such an emotional and traumatic day for him yesterday that he was totally worn out with it all, me too, so we went to bed early and he seems to be sleeping like a log….a dead one!
Good for him.
.
Perhaps now we will actually be able to have a really active retirement, instead of us just sitting boringly upon a seaside seat somewhere, dribbling.
There is plenty of time for that much later on!

It is freezing again here.
As I suspected, that beautiful hot day that I told you about was just a tease, but a wonderful one.
Now I can remember what being warm is like and look forward to more of it in the summer, although sometimes summer does not really arrive here at all.
Luckily, if that happens, we do not have to get by with no weather at all because we always have plenty of wind and rain in reserve.

We have got some workmen in the house again this week and they are insulating the roof of the cellar, which should make the ground floor a lot warmer and cosier for us.
These guys are lovely and it is always a pleasure to see them in the mornings when they arrive at nine.
Luckily, they are both extremely tall, so they can put in the rolls of insulation without needing to use ladders like us, which must be very useful for them in lots of awkward jobs.
It is a bit like having two John Wayne’s around the place….although I think that the actual John Wayne might not have been very good at DIY, although he could have acted the part very well!

My mum was crazy about John.
Her idea of heaven was to have a drink, some treats and a good John Wayne film.
Her favourite being ‘The Quiet Man’ with Maureen O’Hara,

.
or any other one where he played the man and spanked some woman…..usually Maureen O’Hara again!
To be honest, I still like him too, and so does Big H except he prefers the manly cowboy films rather than the spanking ones.
Me….I like both.

That’s a fine idea actually.
We shall get that film and have a good evening watching it once more.
You could do worse yourself you know!
