Laboratory Chimps Freed After Spending 30 Years in Cages.

Hi,

.

I don’t know your opinions of using animals for medical testing, but I have never been happy about it.

Animals have feelings.

.

I was very heartened when I found out about a group of chimpanzees who were finally freed after they had been taken away from their mothers as babies, in order for them to be used for long-term medical testing.

.

From that point on, they were kept confined in a laboratory, and used for medical purposes.
This caged existence was all that the group of almost 40 animals were ever to know of life, for thirty years.

Their luck eventually began to change in the late 1990’s, when their lab was bought by another firm, and these new owners no longer required the chimps.
.

Strangely enough, there are some heavy accusations out there, concerning medical labs, their products and their long-term aims.

.

It is reported that it took about ten years of work with the traumatised primates before they could be brought to the point where they could accept the changes that freedom brings.

.

The following video shows the creatures finally being released into their outdoor compound at an animal sanctuary in Austria.

Here, a short time ago, they saw daylight and lush green grass, and smelled fresh air for the first time in their lives.

.

They were very unsure and timid without the four walls they had been accustomed to for so very long, but eventually they were more ready to accept that they had been given their freedom, seeming to actually smile with joy at the sight of the world outside, and even to hug each other in delight.
.

.
Isn’t that wonderful for them.
It is just a shame that the poor creatures were ever used in that way for so long in the first place.
.
Do join them in spirit, and get up to some monkey business of your own today!
J,x.
