Life And It’s Vagaries.

Hey,

.

Good morning to yourself.

I hope that you are starting a great Saturday, followed by the rest of an excellent weekend.

.
The weather is still grey and rainy here, but warmish, although not really a day to stimulate the wish to go for a walk because it is very muddy now.
.
My patio plants are doing really well though, because of the heat and rain, they are looking both lush and luxurious.
A friend gave me a potted orchid for my birthday*, with instructions to put it somewhere that was light but not in full sun, and not too cold.
She said that these plants usually died after they had finished flowering.
.
Well, I did all everything she said, and even moved it twice, but it did not seem to be happy because it’s flower heads began to fall off.
Eventually I could not think of anything else to try, except to put it out in the sheltered patio, with the other plants for company.
.
I took it out of the pot, planted it in the big tub with one of my ferns and gave it a good watering.
To be honest, I actually thought that it would continue losing flowers and buds, and then die.
.
The result has been amazing, in that it has flourished abundantly.
It’s small green leaves are now really huge, fat, glossy and very hard, sticking up rigidly through the fern fronds.
No more flowers dropped off, they became stiff and beautiful, and all of the buds continued their cycle.
I was amazed.
.
Now, when I go out in the mornings to feed the birds, I am greeted with a beautiful display of exotic purple flowers.
How cool is that!
.
No doubt it is just luck that my idea coincided with this really freakish spell of humidity and heat, but I am really thrilled to see it.
.
I expect that you have realised that I actually know bugger-all about exotic planty-things, but in this case I did something right.
.
Hopefully my weekend will contain other flashes of similar inspiration.
.
Have an inspired weekend yourself!

*…I have already told Big H that he should start looking for Whitby jet for my next birthday….now that is an inspired suggestion right there!
