Meet Me In Winter. 1.

.
Hey,
.

There are many picturesque and beautiful places that are examples of the best to be found in Britain.
.

Places like the lovely small market town in the Cotswolds….enchantingly named Wotton-under-Edge.
.
.

.

In this place an idea grew from the thoughts of Katie Elliott….and spread on their website …. meetmeinwinter.org.

The result has been that hundreds of the people streamed into the town centre to do something extraordinary recently.

.

They recorded  a seasonal charity song there, in order to offer support to the Shelter charity, and also to a local youth centre.

.

The people concerned are hoping that their recording of an original song, called ‘Meet Me In Winter’, will reach the Christmas No.1 spot this year…..and frustrate the more usual X Factor takeover success story!

.
This is a preview of the song, recorded two weeks ago.
.

.

I expect that a lot of the dry-throated singers had a pint afterwards at The Ancient Ram Inn, a well known place in Wotton.

.

.

However I would not have gone with them, given the pub’s apparent reputation, as one of the most haunted places in Britain.
.
The Inn was built in the 13th century, upon what was thought to be a site for Pagan burials and ceremonies, and in the 800 years since then it has seemed to be haunted.
.

One group of visitors there took the following film, over only one night, from 12am through to 7am.
.

.

So, lots happening in Wotton-over-Edge then.
.
Hoping that the record does very well for them!

.

Have a musical one yourself,
J.

    Hiya!

      Hi Katie,

Thanking you for writing to me.

I wrote about you all on the blog because I was so impressed with the whole ‘charity Christmas Song’ idea, which you and the MMIW team have now brought to completion so successfully.

It is also nice to think that the Wotton folk have been brought even closer together by the project, gaining friends and purpose from it….not to mention fun!!!

Strangely enough I have just been writing a follow-up, which I shall be posting tomorrow, because of your record now being available to purchase.
So roll on your ‘Seasonal No 1 Record!’

How great you must feel to know that you have actually made a difference, and that you have reached out in such an effective and inspiring way …. definitely a good thing to remember on the darker days which we all have at times.
      Well Done.

I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and much joy in the New Year,
      Love,
      J,x.
