Mirror Mirror. Pulling faces.

Good morning to you,

.

This morning I am up very early again.

-

I woke up at about a quarter to four and lay there for a short time, deciding whether I should try to go back to sleep again and wake at a less unfeasible hour, but I was far too wide awake.

Besides, there is a most definite attraction about the world when nobody else is around.

.

Big H had been troubled by his throat a lot yesterday, so I sat up in bed and put my hand on his neck and gave him a healing.

It is a good time to do it because everything is so still and quiet at that time, and my own mind is quiet too.

When I have just woken up I do not have to put myself in the right place for it, because I am already there naturally.

.

Then, shortly after four, I went downstairs and stood looking out of the windows, it was like something from a Stephen King or Dean Koontz novel.

The whole of the road was lit up by the  streetlights, just as clear as day.  Every little detail seeming to be preternaturally picked out and crystal clear.

So totally still, no movement.

I would not have been in the least bit surprised if something amazing had suddenly occurred as I was watching.

It was almost as if the stage was set and everything was quivering with anticipation.  It is hard to explain how unusual it all felt.

,

I went slowly from room to room to see if  there was a huge moon, or something that was adding to the unusual atmosphere, but I could not see anything.

Eventually I just stood there, enjoying it all, for quite some time.

.

Everything around us is so beautiful.

.

Last night Big H and I had a really good laugh.

It was kindly, but inadvertently, provided by a complete stranger passing by the house.

.

I do a lot of my paintings in the dining room, which is on the ground floor and faces directly onto the pavement of a road.  This means that pedestrians walk right past the windows and can easily look in if they want to.

I don’t mind this, and we have lived here so long that I never really think about it.

However, I could not expect someone who is modelling for me to feel comfortable, posing in a situation where other people can look in and see them doing it.

.

The solution to this was cleverly suggested by my youngest son.

Big H and he went to buy some of the mirrored film that drivers apply to their vehicles to stop people seeing what is being carried in their vans etc. and it was put over the bottom portions of the offending windows.

It is brilliant stuff, and allows you to see outside absolutely normally, but from outside it is like looking into a mirror.

The only difference to our view out, is a slight darkening to the light.  A bit like very, very weak sunglasses.

.

So.

Last night we were relaxing after the painters were gone and just having a chat about various unimportant things.

Suddenly Big H looked straight over my shoulder with a look of total amazement.

I turned around to see what had caught his attention so thoroughly.

.

There she was.  A poor woman who had obviously got something painful in her eye,

Well, as you can guess, all she wanted to do was to get it out…..and you can also guess what she used as the nearest mirror!

.

Poor thing.

She was pressed up against our window, mouth stretched open enormously, in order to pull her eyes as wide as possible, while she pulled faces and grimaced incredibly as she tried to get the offending item out.

Big H suddenly jumped up, looking around for the box of  paper handkerchiefs in order to rush out and help her, but suddenly she disappeared from view.

.

He rushed to the front door, in time to see her off in the distance, disappearing around the corner.

.

I know it sounds awful, but it was hilarious, and we were totally creased up once he came back in.

It is amazing what we see sometimes, everything from the application of lipstick, to sheer and unadulterated vanity.

.

Not that I can talk!

.

Have fun today.

Be green…Kiss a frog.
