Moctezuma: Aztec Ruler. The British Museum Is The Place To Be.
Hello, Hello,
.
Thrilling things happening in London soon..
.
The summer may be passing but you all have something wonderful to look forward too.
Yes, of course there is Christmas, but I am talking about what promises to be the high point of the year…unless George Clooney is going to make me an offer I can’t refuse!
.
The museum is putting on a thrilling show, created to give a real idea of the life of the Aztecs before the sudden arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors.
There will be a special exhibit, combining film projections with a special soundtrack, which will show images of the priests making their human sacrifices atop the pyramids, and then realistically created visions of the special rituals performed while dressed in the flayed skins of the victims.
There will be objects on display covering every aspect of Aztec life, from drinking vessels to huge, densely carved stone pieces, and beautifully painted and decorated screens.
What a wonderful idea this is. It should be possible to really get a feel of these people and their times.
The ruler, Moctezuma is the central interest. Regarded as an almost god-like being by his people, yet doomed to soon oversee the destruction of all that had once seemed so permanent.
.
Be there or be square!
