More Sex Makes More Babies.

Good morning,

.

It is a grey day here today, with heavy silver skies and quite heavy fog, with a definite dampness in the air.

Not at all unpleasant, but not at all summery.

It has been such a dreadful winter this year that I cannot imagine it ever being luxuriously warm again!

.

You cannot take a warm summer for granted here because some years it never actually arrives and we get cold and rain instead.

No wonder people are always talking and complaining about the weather here, they are all  probably sufferring from SAD.

Or perhaps we Brits are just bloody boring and naturally grumpy….and the recession, with all of it’s added woes is not helping much either!

.

Speaking of the present recession, there has definitely been a strange side effect from it.

The probability of more babies.

.

The supermarket chain Tesco has noticed that their sales of pregnancy testing kits has been rising by about a third over the past couple of years and the figure for last year’s sales of the kits was about 3.5 million.

And that is a lot of possible pregnancies, Essex being the county that has bought the  highest number

.

Historically, the highest number of births usually take place in times of plenty, but these new figures suggest that this trend is changing.

People are used to spending money going out to be entertained in pubs, restaurants and shows, and obtaining pleasure by buying luxury goods and toys of all kinds, and by satisfying the urge for a little retail therapy.

Now they seem to be getting their pleasure by the old method which costs nothing.

.

It has also been noted, that at the same time that the sales of pregnancy testing kits are soaring, the sale of condoms is falling.

Tesco is using these figures to ascertain future trends and is stockpiling baby items in several areas which have shown the highest purchases of their kits, in anticipation of higher demand very soon.

.

It is fascinating stuff!

.

So, go forth and entertain yourself in whatever way amuses you, but remember, there can be consequences which could have you shopping at Tesco’s.

J,x.
