My American Idol Favourites. James Durbin And Scotty McCreery.
Hello, Hello,
.
Welcome to Monday.
I awoke to pale blue skies and watery sunshine this morning, which is pleasant.
It certainly beats the dark grey skies we enjoyed yesterday, along with the entirely free addition of some loud hailstorms!
Where is the summer!
.
As we were stuck indoors, apart from managing one walk in the afternoon when the sky suddenly lightened up for a while, I finally caught up on my recorded television.
I don’t know about you, but I am in the throws of watching American Idol 2011 at the moment.
It nicely fills in space between the yearly British X Factor extravaganzas, with all of the usual entertainment of the deluded people who cannot actually sing and the sudden shocks of those unlikely looking auditionees who totally can.
.
As I cannot be bothered to sit through the American guest artists, or all of the would-be hopefuls that I don’t enjoy, I have this new plan.
I record the ITV2 shows on Thursday and Friday nights, and then speed through everything I don’t like, and only watch all of the acts that I do enjoy,
And now we are down to the last nine, as two finalists went home this week.
.
As usual, I am not impressed with any of the female contestants, and feel that the last three will all be male.
.
Normally, in this sort of competition, I can pick out the eventual winner quite quickly but this year is different.
I find that I am liking two male singers instead of having just the one favourite.
They are Scotty McCreery and James Durbin.
.
I think that Scotty is a really striking looking young man, with a very natural lanky grace and a quiet charm….mind you, I love redheads!
He has a very unusual deep voice, which is not in the least bit forced.
His choice is to be a country singer and this fits with his general speaking voice and with his demeanour.
At seventeen he is amazingly good.
.
Early in the show, during the final selection process, Scotty was in a grouping of several singers, during the Group Section.
This group had a sweet young boy in it and suddenly they all decided that the boy did not fit in, so he was abruptly told to leave the group, which shocked a lot of viewers and the panel.
Scotty did not decide to do this but went along with the decision by not disagreeing with what the more vociferous group members wanted.
.
Later on when asked about it by the panel, he said that what happened had made him feel bad afterwards and that he should have acted more like the man he knew he should have been in that situation.
He is only seventeen!
.
The other contestant that I cannot help liking is James Durbin.
He is a 21 year old married man from California, who was finding it hard to support his wife and son.
He suffers from a form of Autism, having both Tourettes and Asberger’s Syndromes.
.
His voice is amazing and he can sing high notes in the same way that Adam Lambert, a past winner, does.
Or in fact, like the pretty Steve Tyler does!….Oh Yes to Steve!
.
Time will tell, but I hope to see them both in the final because that would definitely amuse me a lot.
.
In case you don’t watch such daft stuff, and you are wondering who on earth I am twittering on about….here is your chance to find out, courtesy of the fabulous UTube.
