Oh, I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside.

Hi,

.

And a good afternoon to you from a cold and grey place.

It is a good job that I  have a slight tan from that recent exotic spell of weather because otherwise it would be hard to believe that it ever happened at all.

Looking out from my window I see that everyone is wearing their winter clothing again, and looking quite glum about it.

.

The only good thing is that there are forecasts that it should get a bit warmer again this coming weekend….yeah right, I shall believe it when I see it!

.

Today, once our delivery arrived, we decided to cheer ourselves up with a quick trip to Tynemouth, for fish and chips and a walk along the beach, because that always works for us.

And it did.

The skies were a bit dour and the sea was quite grey, but it was very refreshing, and there were still some hardy people on the beach.

That’s because if you waited for appropriate weather you would never get to do it at all.

I took some pictures so that I could share it with you.

You have to admit that if we had the more tropical sort of weather then we would be inundated with tourists up here because the beaches are beautiful, especially up at Bamburgh, beside that fabulous castle.

Not to mention the unusual Holy Island.

.

Our visitors always expect there to be beaches which are covered with black coal up here, and they are always awed by the beauty.

Having said that though, there were such horrible black beaches at one time in the more industrial places, like the beach at the end of the fabulous ‘Get Carter’ film.

The North-East is not very industrial nowadays, which is why there are so many towns which have a lot of jobless people who used to work in the coal mines and shipbuilding industries at one time.

They are the casualties of change.

.

When I was a child my Uncle Herbie used to work down on the docks unloading the ships that moored on the River Tyne.

It was hard, sometimes back-breaking work, but those man were tough and confident of their place in a man’s world.

.

Anyway, I seem to be miles off the track again, as I am frequently inclined to be.

Suffice it to say that today has been a definite improvement on yesterday.

And it’s the weekend tomorrow….Yeaaaah!

Do have a fine one yourself.

Jx.
