Oops, They Did It Again.
Hi Folks,
.
Well, today I want to tell you a bit more about China.
.
In China recently, there have been reports of even more Environmental damage being caused to their people, and of officially backed ill treatment to silence protesters.
This was highlighted by The Sunday Times yesterday.
.
Rural Chinese villagers were worried, when over 800 children in several villages, were found to be suffering from lead poisoning.
This form of poisoning causing damage which is not usually reversible. It includes such things as reproductive and nervous system damage, along with anaemia and high blood pressure. Young children, pregnant women and their unborn children are especially vulnerable.
.
This was believed to be caused by the Dongling Lead and Zinc Smelting Company in the midst of rural wheat-fields in Shaanxi Province.
The villagers rioted in protest and thousands of police were sent by the authorities to deal with the problem.
.
As the Chinese rulers were planning to hold a huge spectacle to celebrate the Communist Party having ruled ‘successfully’ for the past 60 years, they simply closed the factory down. Thus showing that they care, and of course in order to end the ill timed bad publicity.
Also, in order to stop any further trouble, local people and reporters were threatened by government thugs.
.
Soon distressed parents, who lived near to smelters in other provinces, were learning that their children were also affected in the same way
In one city over 1,000 children were damaged.
.
The Chinese government is dealing with this in their usual caring, sharing way.
Doctors are being forbidden to do tests to confirm the damage and document the full scale of it.
Blood tests are restricted in order to stop the protests, and doctors can no longer refer blood samples to the more specialist hospitals.
.
One company is said to have paid out a large sum of money in order to allow the farmers and their families to be resettled elsewhere, but the money was never used for that purpose. The thinking being that the people would never dare to protest.
.
Because of the problems being highlighted, the government is once more making the same old promises to the people, and the production companies are producing less lead and zinc.
.
As a result, the price of lead on The London Metal Exchange is now soaring higher this year than ever before.
.
SO THAT”S OK THEN!
.
J
Will they ever stop ?.
I am also quite interested in my human rights.
