Opera Tots And Opera Stars.
Hi,
There has been an unusual and probably most welcome innovation for those of you without someone to care for your children when you want to catch a performance at the opera.
.
The English National Opera have decided to offer parents a chance to spend a few carefree hours listening to the best that they can offer, without worrying about the children.
This new scheme is called ‘Opera Tots and Opera Stars’
.
On particular days from the end of September onwards, they are planning to offer creches for small children, along with play areas which will be suitable for the 7 to 12 age group, during ENO performances.
Opera Tots will be run by experienced, professional creche workers.
Opera Stars will be controlled by experienced, enthusiastic staff from the ENO and intends to introduce children to this form of music in a fun filled and exciting way.
Both environments will be safe, secure and encouraging.
It is also hoped that this new facility will help introduce new audiences to opera and widen it’s appeal.
.
.
The ENO are also planning to have a preview evening on Friday 3rd September 2010.
Members of the public and their families can enjoy a fun filled evening of opera themed delights in the Sky & Balcony bars at the London Coliseum.
This will include hearing the chorus singing extracts from the operas which are planned for the new season, plus many more delights….such as….
….sing alongs
….speed dating an opera character
….run screaming from Mephistopheles
….drinking the elixir of life with Emilia Marty
….and so much more!
It sounds a brilliant way to get acquainted with opera. Information.
.
I wish that I lived near enough to go myself.
Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be able to do so!
But Friday nights are good either way.
