Building The Ark.

Hey,

Many people are worrying about the ‘end of the world’ scenario which is prevalent at the moment.

.

How many of you are considering the desirability of building yourselves an Ark and making like Noah!

.

Well, these things can no doubt be done a lot more quickly these days.

.

Last year in Hunan province, China, the Broad group built a 30 storey luxury hotel, which they named The Arc.

.

Amazingly, it was built in only 15 days, using the most advanced pre-fabricated building methods, whereby everything is ready-made before it arrives on site and can be instantly be put into it’s preordained place.

.

This YouTube video shows the whole process in time lapse photography.

.

.

The structure is a high end building and has total air conditioning and soundproofing etc.

It is also designed to withstand massive earthquakes.

.

84 Days To Change Your Life.

Hey,

How are you today then!

I hope that you are feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

.

Perhaps you may be feeling a bit depressed because you are not keeping to your New year resolution(s).

.

Just in case you were inspired to make a decision cut the calories calories, get fitter and slimmer ….  and just in case you need a little encouragement …. then this post is for you!

.

It concerns a guy called Adam Waters.

He reached a real low in his life when he suddenly looked at himself and saw an unfit and overweight man.

At the age of 32, he felt himself to be obese, sick, and depressed with himself and with his life.

.

He decided to change, and to do it quickly!

He set himself a 12 week challenge to lose his excess fat and get himself into condition, with a six-pack to boot!

.

Over an 84 day period of time from November 8th 2006, to January 31st 2007, he went for it.

.

He also took a picture of himself on every one of those days.

.

This epic change-around has been condensed into a 48 second piece of film.

And here it is for you to be amazed at!

Is It All Just ‘Pants’.

Hey,

Did you have an interesting ride on your particular subway recently!

Were you a bemused observer on the latest ‘No Pants Day’.

.

This is a day of exhibitionism which has become a much enjoyed annual event for many people worldwide.

.

When ‘No Pants Day’ began about a decade ago, it may not have seemed to be something that would catch the imagination of so many participants, but the growing numbers who join in obviously enjoy the shock which it gives to unsuspecting fellow travellers on the subways.

.

It is apparently organised by ‘Improv’.

They seem dedicated to cheering people up, and the flash events are seemingly organised mainly on Facebook.

It allows total strangers to appear at a prearranged meeting place and then band together to have fun and shake others out of their comfort zones.

Many people find the sight of these people in their underwear, out of context, to be unacceptable and disturbing …. but so is corporate greed, political bribery, animal cruelty and war etc., but no-one is shocked by those things anymore!

So, it all happened on the the 8th January.

.

Better The Devil You Know?

Hey,

While lying in the bath this morning (no shower available at present), I had a thought!

.

Is our life pre-ordained.

Do we have to live through an obstacle course pre-set by our behaviour during a past life, or lives.

.

Is life random, depending upon the actions of each person at each given moment.

.

If we lived our life again, would there be vast changes because we might act differently in the case of those decisions that we agonised over …. or gave no real thought to at all.

.

Would we always make the same choices, taking into account that we are still the same person.

.

Etc, etc, etc.

.

I mean, we all have regrets about things that we have done in the past, and it is always easy to look in a rear view mirror and see things quite clearly, including the repercussions of random actions.

After all, there are ripples from everything!

.

So, if someone offered you the chance to go back in time and live your life all over again …. would you jump at the chance.

.

Why, you may well ask me, what would you do?

Hmmmmm!

.

Seems to me that the future is the only direction that we might feel the tiniest bit of control is perhaps possible!

.

Now we are well into 2012, and the recent Christmas/New Year festivities seem long gone.

So, with the recent gale force winds and extremely cold weather….we need a laugh!

.

During the holidays I was introduced to Simon’s Cat, of which I was previously totally unaware.

.

As a cat lover over most of my lifetime, I love these contrary animals, and the fun that they bring with them.

.

Anyone who has experience with their feline habits will recognise their own experiences in the very clever films which are made and drawn by someone who must obviously be the hapless Simon who is ruled by the devious Cat.

Face Of Jesus Toaster.

I thought you might like to know about what turned out to be one very popular Christmas Present for 2011.

.

It is something which is usually considered to be somewhat boring at the best of times …. a toaster …. and no, not the lusted-after Dualit!

.

This particular desirable object is produced by a firm in Vermont, which is called ‘Burnt Impressions’.

.

They sell toasters with a special insert which burns a picture onto the slice of bread being browned.

The ‘Jesus’ was a very popular and topical design to give as a present during the recent festive season.

.

There are other designs on offer, including a ‘Virgin Mary,’ a ‘DogPaw’ and a ‘Peace’ design toaster.

The firm have been selling their product for over a year and sales are rising all the time.

.

On A Plate. AnimaNaturalis.

It is amazing to me how many people are actually prepared to put their money where their mouth is, like the members of AnimaNaturalis.

.

This group was started in about 2003, and is trying to change attitudes towards animals.

.

They stage inventive, eye-catching and publicity catching protests to further their understandable aims.

.

They have just arranged a display in the marketplace in the city of Barcelona, which is a wonderful display of pure performance art.

It needs no words at all.

.

Shopprs were amazed to see a giant plate on the ground, with a huge knife and fork arranged at the sides.

Arranged on the plate are various vegetables and some fake blood …. along with a supine young lady lying curled up and in the nude, as still as a pork chop would.

.

Other activists stand behind carrying a banner which asks the question …. How Much Cruelty Can You Swallow… to denounce the eating of meat.

.

So Gaudi had competition that day.

A wonderful piece of protest and political art!

.

They have various protests happening all of the time.

This is a protest from December 2009.

It is a protest againt bullfighting in Pamploma, carried out by Peta and AnimaNaturalis.
