Wonderful Quotes: Jesus Christ.

Quote: Jesus Christ.

‘ For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’

Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

A Bright, Bright, Sunshiny Da-a-ay.

We seem to have the promise of a sunny day here, which is nice.

Intimations of summer and all that.

Of course we can look at summery stuff, just to remind ourselves of what we hope is coming this year.

My favourite thing is imagining myself on a UK beach, paddling at the sea’s edge and picking up shells.

Tynemouth is a very favourite one of course, if you like to end the session with excellent fish and chips, but Bamburgh is absolutely stupendous.

It was in this frame of mind that I got caught up in reading about tanning, be it by the sun or by those weird orange self-tanning lotions.

And I found a very amusing site under the heading of paleisthenewtan.com

It shows pictures of celebrities such as the ever ginger-coloured George Hamilton, along with various other stars who make the same choice.

I remember Christina Aguilera singing at the funeral of Etta James and fidgeting very uncomfortably to cover her streakily done legs.

Not a good look!

Anyway, if this tempting weather keeps on coming then I shall be popping out into the garden for my ’15 minutes per side’ of sun worship.

No point in encouraging osteoporosis or rickets as far as I am concerned.

So, have a fine day yourself,  I wish you sunshine.

Film: UFO Over Seoul On 7th April 2012.

Hey, hey,

It does not stop does it!

This is a film taken by an amazed passenger on a plane flying over Seoul in South Korea a few days ago.

What do you make of this one then?

UFO’s are here again, the skies above aren’t clear again ….

Boots The Opticians Really Sucks Big-Time!

Sorry to have missed yesterday’s post but I was too busy having a shitty day.

In the morning I went into town with Big H because I had my eye re-test appointment at Boots Opticians.

As you know, this was necessary because the last prescription they did for me was apparently wrong, and this meant that the lenses that the online optician re-glazed my glasses with was the wrong one.

Therefore I could not see properly with the specs.

Surprisingly, once I went to the optical department, I was told I needed to discuss the matter with a gentleman who said that he was the manager dealing with the problem.

He then told us that he needed to check my glasses closely because the on-line firm had probably got some necessary measurements wrong instead of it being Boots fault.

Eventually Big H lost patience and said the examination of my lenses had been done the last time I came in and that was why I was now there for a re-test.

The man was aggressive and Big H said that all that needed to be done was the eye test which would show whether the previous prescription which they had given me was wrong or not.

The man kept saying there would be no test if he could not keep on examining the glasses.

Big H lost patience and told him that he was now going to take me to another optician to have my eyes tested and if the result proved that Boots had done a bad job then he would take them to court to get his money refunded.

The guy then calmed down and said he was our friend and on our side and of course I could have a test immediately.

The test showed that the previous prescription was entirely incorrect on the left eye and slightly different on the right eye.

He said that the difference on the right eye was acceptable though!

Amazingly, the man then said that he would tell us what he was ‘prepared to do for us’.

He said we should claim our money back from the on-line firm who did the re-glaze …. and Boots would make up the difference in cost for a new lens.

We said ”you cannot be serious given that the re-glaze was perfectly done…. to the incorrect Boots prescription!”

When we were met with yet more waffle, Big H lost patience and told him to hand us the new prescription because we were now leaving the shop.

We were then told that the re-glaze would be done by Boots at no cost to ourselves, and it would be done with the same high quality Essilor lenses that we had paid for on-line.

He was generally very annoyed about people going to on-line opticians!

The whole experience was dreadful, I was very upset by it all.

Imagine walking into such aggressive stuff when you just expected an eye test.

It was more like dealing with a dodgy car dealer.

Needless to say, we have decided never to step foot in Boots again.

I only hope that this is the end of the whole saga!

Have you had similar experiences to mine …. do tell!

BIG Bargain!!!

As you know, I was fortunate enough to be given a Kindle for one of my Christmas pressies …. and I love it.

I have read heaps of free e-books from Amazon in the last couple of months, and it has been wonderful

During the recent heatwave both Big H and I took our Kindles to the garden for a leisurely read in the sunshine, although I am not one for staying still for very long.

Big H however, filled his day with ‘sunbathing whilst reading’ quite happily.

Anyway, it now seems that you can get an excellent bargain at Asda if you quite fancy an e-book reader, but think that a Kindle is too expensive.

They are selling a Kobo e-book for the very persuasive sum of just £49-00.

It has the same 6” screen as the Kindle and is only about 8g heavier.

Kobo has also got a much bigger catalogue of e-books than the others, and stacks of them for free.

What more could you ask for, especially as Kobo has been reported as being not so rigorous about it’s buyers obtaining e-books from other e-book stores.

Go on, spoil yourself, or buy a very excellent present for someone else …. a present which just keeps on giving!!

Ice And Fire.

What weird weather we are having here at the moment.

Yesterday, the mood changed at midday, when the skies darkened and became very low and heavy.

Then the snow began falling with a vengeance.

it was also extremely windy, so that we watched the huge snowflakes flying sideways past the windows.

And so it continued unabated.

When we finally went to bed, (and thank goodness for the electric blanket!), the snow was mixed with heavy rain so nothing was left lying at that point in the proceedings.

So, then we cut to this morning, when I was astounded by wall-to-wall blue skies once again.

It looked wonderful from inside the house at least.

Later on, when we went for a walk, we were greeted by a strong and bitterly cold wind but it still looked beautiful.

Very strange weather when you think that we were all sunbathing in topically hot sunshine just a few days ago!

What else has been going on here then?

Actually not a lot really, except for quite a bit of television viewing and film watching.

I have recently enjoyed watching the ‘Game Of Thrones’, which was a top class American TV series starring my old secret pleasure Sean Bean as the ruler of the North.

Luckily for me I got to watch the last of the five DVD’s last night, snuggled up warm during the aforementioned awful weather.

What an excellent watch, and most beautifully done.

It is based on the ‘A Song Of Fire And Ice’ series of Fantasy books written by George R.R. Martin.

Big H did not previously enjoy this author’s books because he found them hard to get into and enjoy, but the series is really fantastic.

I was pleased to read that the second in the series is soon to be shown over there …. then hopefully it will quickly make its way over here.

I have to say that if you are going to be huddled up in a snow-covered house, then watching that series is one of the good bits.

Hoping the having a stree-free day yourself.
