Patches. A One In A Million.

Hi,

.

Do you miss having a special friend!

.

Are you busy considering whether or not to get yourself a pet.

Do you feel that having a cat or a dog, or even a handsome tarantula, would add something wonderful to your life and add to your happiness.

.

You should perhaps also consider the merits of a horse, especially one who fetches you a beer and answers the phone.

A pet who also likes to go for a ride with you….but not the usual kind where you get to use a saddle.

.

You could take your horse out in the car and enjoy a hamburger together, then bring him home and tuck him in for the night.

.

I kid you not.

Just watch this video of the beloved and totally indulged Patches!

.
Nice to have a smile about something at the moment!

Carpe Diem.

Hey folks,

.

These are strange times.

Illustrating the wisdom of seizing the day and enjoying the moment.

.

Today in the UK we can feel happy for small and wonderful things happening to ordinary people, such as a pair of un-named pensioners from Derbyshire.

.

It is yet another fine example of people unknowingly being in possession of fine works of art that are totally unrecognised for their rarity and worth.

And once more the treasure is of Chinese origin.

,

This particular couple decided to try and raise a few quid by selling a few bits and pieces which had been gathering dust in their house for decades.

Imagine their pleasure when something that they had taken to an auction house was recognised as real class that could possibly fetch a staggering £10,000 at auction, if they were lucky on the day.

.

On the day of the auction it was even more thrilling for them to see the level of bidding from collectors all over the world, which finally ended with their modest 30cm ‘pot’ reaching a grand total of £192,000 when the hammer came down on the final bid.

Who would have expected them to be in possession of a treasure from the Daoguang Period.

Wasn’t it lucky, the day that they made that fateful visit to Hanson’s Auctioneers in Derby, just in case they had something worth selling!

.

Wow.

Let’s hope that the lucky pair have a really good time during their remaining golden years.

.

Nice to hear of something good happening to people, however small, at such a distressing time for all of us watching the awesome events in Japan.

The pain just does not seem to stop for them.

Recent reports say that the Fukushima Nuclear Plant may be releasing radiation.

A third explosion took place last night.

It also seems to be a possibility that the fuel rods could be melting,

,

The recent eruption at the Shinmoedake Volcano has a plume going up miles into the sky.

.

Apparently some experts are saying that there is a strong possibility of further earthquakes and tsunamis to come.

What a terrible disaster this is, and on such a huge scale.

.

We can, at the very least, pray for them.

Poem: Only A Glance.

Only A Glance.

.

It was only a glance

From a boy at a bus stop

When I was barely sixteen.

He was actually with some girl

When he turned to look at me,

And I was caught and netted

By a pair of ice blue eyes

Pinpointed by tiny black irises,

As, for that long moment, time stopped.

Suddenly the overdue bus arrived

And everyone boarded.

It has been a lifetime now

But I still remember that piercing glance.

Tsunamis And Strange Effects On Fish.

Hi,

.

Now there are reports of strange fish behavious after the recent tsunami in Japan.

.

It seems that there are dense shoals of fish in the sea off the beaches of Acapulco.

The fish are so close together that they look like oil slicks.

Elated fishermen can just walk out and gather them up in buckets, saying that they have never before seen anything like it.

.

This strange behaviour is thought to have been caused by the after-effects of the  tsunami.

.

The sea is truly a mystery.

.

There were many peculiar fish found washed up on beaches after previous tsunamis.

.

.

.

And, while we are on the subject of strange things, this was washed up in Montauk.
.

.
…which looks like one of these!
.

There are also many other strange happenings that take place and no-one knows the cause of them.

On July 9th 1958 in Alaska something unbelievable happened.

A man and his young son were fishing from their boat in a lake.

There was suddenly a large rumbling sound at the head of the bay beside the mountains.

.

Then, there suddenly seemed to be a huge explosion, which the survivors described as ‘like an atomic explosion’.

.

After this they saw a huge wave….a solid wall of water coming towards them.

.

The wave hit their boat and carried them up while 40 fathoms of anchor chain was played out and then snapped.

they were carried inland ahead of the wave, passing over the tops of trees.

Eventually they were carried back into the lake and both survived.

.

Other boats were thought to have been carried out to sea and wrecked.

.

It seemed that something similar had taken place about five years before but there had been no actual witnesses to see it happen.

Scientists had examined the area but had had to leave with no solution for the strange occurrence.

.

What on earthe was it?

Japan. Hit By Tsunami After 8.9 Earthquake.

Hi People,
.

Terrible things happening in Japan just now in our untamed world.

.

Just imagine….an off-shore earthquake that measured 8.9 on the Richter Scale.

.

This is how it all began.
.

.
After that….the tsunami strikes.
.

Ariel view of giant tsunami waves striking land.
.

.
The effects have eventually reached California.
.

.

In the aftermath there are fears about a nuclear plant. Radiation levels are now rising.
.

.

It is scary isn’t it, how little control we humans really have.

.

Of course this terrible catastrophe, plus all of the other recent strange happenings, has begun talk about the December 12th 2012 prophecy once again, plus the other predictions by other native peoples around the world.

Road Rage On Camera.

Hello,
.

.
Does it enrage you when you are held up by cyclists when you are driving your car.

.

Do you feel angry when a cyclist takes up the space of a car.

.

Do you feel that road tax should be paid by cyclists.

.

Have you been walking on a bridle path, minding your own business, when a huge cyclist suddenly thunders past you just inches away without even an attempt to warn you that he is coming up behind you.

.

Have you ever thought that wearing headphones while on a bike is a bit dangerous.

.

How much damage could be caused by a bike hitting you at 20-30 miles per hour….are they insured for such damage!

Etc, etc, etc.

.

Well, as you know, many cyclists are forced off the road by aggressive drivers, and have taken to wearing cameras on their helmets.

.

On January 26th this year, an incident took place in Longsight, Manchester, which was recorded.
The driver of a black BMW Five Series stopped and attacked a cyclist, and was filmed doing so on the cyclists head cam.
.
The unlucky cyclist was on his cycle, doing about 25 mph and a car was being driven a few inches from his handlebars.
This cyclist, a researcher at Manchester University called Neil Chatterjee, 35, then knocked on the car window to ask the driver to move away from him.
The driver is then said to have come closer and pushed the cyclist into railings beside the road.
.
Apparently the attack then happened, when the driver of the BMW suddenly stopped his car and grabbed the cyclist.
.
He stopped the attack, and left, when told that he was being filmed
.
Police are now trying to identify the driver.
His description, according to the police, is as follows,
White.
Medium build.
5’8″ to 5’10” in height.
About 50 years old.

.

.
Sadly, road rage is becoming more common now.

Zombie Boy Has Made It!

Hi Peeps,
.
Do you remember a post that I did on July 26th 2010.
It was about unusual people with unusual ambitions.
.
The first person on that post was a young man called Rick Genest…. AKA Zombie Boy.
He had been fascinated by Zombies as a young boy and had found his own unique way to become one.
The tattoo work that he had done on his body is quite fascinating and quite definitely body art.
.
He has since become well known on the fashion and music scene.
.
It all happened very quickly once he became noticed.
.
Nicola Formichetti, the creative Director at Thierry Mugler fashion house, apparently saw Zombie Boy on Facebook and was totally taken with his style.
.
As a result, Rick has recently been prominent in Formichetti’s debut runway show for Thierry Mugler, along with Lady GaGa.
.

.
.

.
He has also done a pop video with Lady GaGa for ‘Born This Way’.
Hasn’t the boy done well!

Book Of Milton’s Poetry Is Bound With The Skin Of A Murderer.

Hi,

.

Already Thursday….excellent!

.

As you know, I am sometimes struck by happenings which are described under my section titled’ Mysteries And Wonderments’.

This post is definitely one of them.

.

At present there is an exhibition underway at the Westcountry Study Library in Devon.

This is under the heading of ‘Crime And Punishment’.

.

One of the more unusual exhibits is a leather bound book of ‘The Poetical Works’ of John Milton, published about 160 years ago in 1852.

Milton, a 17th century poet, is most famous for his grand work ‘Paradise Lost’.

.

So far not so unusual, you might say, but now it gets strange.

.

In the year 1830, on 25th March, a hanging took place in Exeter, Devon.

The unfortunate felon was a ratcatcher named George Cudmore from Roborough.

He had been tried, and found to be guilt,y of murdering a woman by poisoning her with arsenic.

His judgement also included that he should afterwards be dissected at an Exeter hospital.

.

During this process a section of his skin was removed and kept, to later be properly flayed and tanned.

.

It was this skin which was used in 1852, quite some years later, to cover a book of Milton’s works.

.

It is this book which was was eventually donated to the library.

A bookplate in the front of the volume records that it once was part of the library of a Mr. Ralph Saunders.

.

Isn’t it strange that great people who invent wonderful things, save many lives, or create great artistic works can be forgotten, but a murderous ratcatcher who is hung before an enthusiastic crowd in the early 1800’s can be remembered because of such a peculiar happening with regard to a portion of his skin.

.

Ah fame, such a fleeting thing, and so perverse!
