Phew! It Did Not Happen After All Then.

Happy Monday to yourself,

.

.

Well, I see that Princess Beatrice’s famously awful hat has finally been sold to the highest bidder on the e-bay site, making a grand sum of £81,100.01p to be donated forthwith to her chosen charities.

Well done her!

Hats off and all that!

.

I hope that the new owner is indeed rapturous about their new and infamous possession.

.

And talking about rapture.

What about all of those ardent followers of the the televangelist Harold Camping.

They sincerely believed his teaching, which was that he had added up the dates in the bible and had come up with the information that The Rapture was due to happen last Saturday….on May 21st 2011…. at 6pm.

Apparently, he stated that those who were left, would be finally destroyed by a fireball on October 21st

It is reported that many of his followers gave away their no longer needed money and belongings in preparation.

.

But it did not happen as prophesied, much to their confusion.

How awful…. you give everything away and wait to be transported at the appointed hour of 6pm, full of anticipation and joy, and then you are left with no Rapture….and no money!

.

It made me think about the whole process of The Rapture, which many people do sincerely believe in.

That someday they will be lifted into the air and saved from the apocalypse that will cover the earth and all of it’s remaining peoples.

.

I wonder how anyone can actually believe that they will be good enough to be saved.

Could it be that if The Rapture did happen, then those who would be chosen would be the last ones to realize that they are amongst the few truly righteous people.

You would probably find that in that case, as they began to slowly ascend upwards, they would be crying to be let down again because if anyone is going then it should be children who are saved….and not them.

This would be because they have probably spent their whole quiet lives trying to be of help to others, quite unnoticed and unappreciated, this being a world which only worships the famous and the exceptionally beautiful, the shamelessly wealthy and titled, but not the good or the grateful.

.

I also wonder how high you would have to go up before you reach the Kingdom.

Do you just keep slowly rising up to 100′ and then 1,000′ and then 3,000′ etc, because it would get really cold up there and you would not be able to breathe if you went too far.

.

And what about those good people who are terrified of heights,

They would be screaming with terror and begging to be let down immediately.

.

Or perhaps beams of light come down and suck up the good people.

One minute you are walking along minding your own business, and the next there is a ‘shlurp’ noise, and there you go up a tube of light.

And, as you probably never knew you were so good, and you don’t know about The Rapture, then you would be bloody terrified!

.

Whoahh, scary.

And also, who would want to go, if it means you have to leave behind everybody you care for.

.

I cannot imagine many people just waving goodbye and saying ‘Oh well, you should have been a better person then!’

.

The whole idea is totally a scary one in my opinion.

But then again, even if it happens I very much doubt that I would have to go, but it would be amazing to watch it happening.

These days, it is very unusual indeed to find something new that you have not seen before.

.

What do you make of it all then.

And have a rapturous one today yourself.

J,x.

.

.

Actually, not a lot of people know this, but I did read previously that the gentleman in question made a similar mistake once before, in 1994, when he predicted that The rapture was imminent.

When it failed to take place, he put it down to an unfortunate error in his mathematics.

This time he was sure that he was correct in his predictions….not!

.

Don’t you just hate it when that happens to you in front of everybody!
