Poem: Don’t Talk To Strangers.(extract from Bone Soup)

don’t talk to strangers

please take a sweetie little girl

would you like to see a kitten

do you know the way to maudlin street

would you let me tie your mitten

come here young man

i’m slightly deaf

come closer to the car

don’t be afraid

i know your mum

get in it is not far

it’s sensible to be on guard

with everyone you meet

it is not rude to run away

from people in the street

though people seem quite human

from the outside looking in

you cannot see the monsters lurking

underneath the skin
