Psst. Wanna Buy A 1971 T2 Harrier Jump Jet?
Hello People,
.
So, are any of you interested in things that fly, or in things to be bought on e-bay?
.
If you are then this page should definitely be of interest to you.
.
My goodness, is there anything that you cannot buy on e-bay.
.
I think that one of the strangest items ever put up for sale….except for the ghosts caught inside a bottle….must be a 1971 Harrier Jump Jet.
.
It was an uncommon thing indeed….a two seater T2 Harrier.
.
All of the weaponry etc. had been removed by the RAF before it was de-commisioned and sold as a now obsolete item.
.
There was no purpose for the then restored item except as a curiosity, to be exhibited as a collector’s item.
.
The company who carried out the work is ‘Jet Art Aviation’ which is a company in Bradford UK.
.
Once the company proceeded to put the item on e-bay, it obviously generated a great deal of interest.
.
It is reported that at least 140,000 people hit on the e-bay page and 80 of them left bids.
The amount had crept up to almost £100,000 partway through the bidding process.
.
Imagine how disappointed the bidders must have been, when their desired item suddenly disappeared from the site.
The auction had been stopped by e-bay, because they were worried that it was against their ‘weapon sales rules’ to allow the auction to proceed any further.
.
How sad and how strange that seems, as the auction item was in reality just the restored shell, and incapable of being used as a working aircraft any longer.
.
As there are only four of these rare items left in the world it is to be hoped that eventually it finds a good and appreciative home, where it can be given the admiration it so obviously deserves.
