Really Bad News From Vancouver.

.

Hi Folks,

.

It is dreary and cold again here….back to the usual weather I fear.

.

It is so changed now, that we have upped temperature on the central heating, dug out the winter sweaters again and put the padded quilt back down on top of the duvet.

.

All of which brings us neatly to the dangers of going to bed.

.

There is yet more information to add to my continuing posts regarding the new world-wide plague of bed bugs.

.

There has been a recent report from from the US Centre For Disease Control And Prevention, which concerns this subject.

.

Although there is no information that the insects spread disease to the unfortunate humans that they feed upon, there is some cause for worry now, and a definite need for further research into the possibility of it happening.

.

In Vancouver, a doctor called Marc Romney has found very worrying results after doing some research into the subject of bed bugs spreading disease.

He did this after noticing that the spiralling cases of bedbugs was matched by a similar upsurge in cases of MRSA.

These were all from a very poor dock area in Vancouver.

.

The doctor then discovered that there were patients from this area whose bedbugs were found to be carrying the MRSA superbug.

Although there is no information that the bugs spread disease to the unfortunate humans that they feed upon, there is some cause for worry now, and a definite need for further research into the possibility of it happening.

MRSA can enter the body through open areas of skin, and this has the possibility of being a new vector for the spreading the infection.

.

Although this is the first research of it’s kind, and is on a very small scale, there obviously needs to be further work done on the subject.

Obviously the MRSA may been have transmitted to the bed bugs by the humans which they feed on, or it may have been present in the insects by some other means.

The mechanics of it definitely need to be better understood.

.

Urghhhh!

Doesn’t it make your flesh creep just to think about it!
