Sometimes You Just Know That They Are Wrong!

Hello,

.

I wish you a fine day.

It is still unfeasibly warm up here ….and with heavily clouded skies.

Yesterday we cunningly went for a long walk in the countryside, before the torrential but warm rain began, with Big H sweating as if it was going out-of-fashion.

.

That sounds yukky of course, but for us it is little short of a miracle, because for years he had been unable to either work up a sweat, or get a tan, or re-grow any of his missing body hair….as well as becoming more and more ill.

.

Initially he had been concerned after finding a body parasite, after working abroad, and had considered that to be a possible cause of his problems.

He felt that he needed a tropical diseases expert, because the doctors he saw could find no problem, even after his immune system suddenly crashed.

.

It is amazing that no-one ever realised, over all of the years that he was so ill, that he was not making any hormones at all….so no melatonin at all, and yet he was not diagnosed with all of his classic signals of pituitary problems.

.

We sometimes think that the idea of having ‘computer doctors’ doing the initial health checks would be a good thing because they would just compute the details and then suggest the problem from their database.

The fact that it is a comparatively rare complaint, along with many others that other people go undiagnosed with, would make no difference as long as all of the information is in the machine in the first place.

The possible lack of curiosity or general lack of experience, plus the fixed 10 minute consultation time, and lack of relevant personal knowledge of any given doctor, would not be a part of the mix anymore.

.

Obviously it would not suit every person but it would be a good resource for those unfortunate enough to be the ‘one in a million’ who is unlucky enough to have some unusual complaint.

It could also help to prevent the damage done to the bodies and systems of those unfortunate people who end up being told that there is nothing actually wrong with them except too much imagination because they are actually just badly depressed, which happened to Big H.

.

Eventually these unfortunate people either start taking the Prozac, which Big H was impatiently told he should accept, or they stop going to ask for help because they become an irritation because they are being awkward refusing  ‘the treatment that they need’.

.

Sorry, but I worry sometimes how many other desperate people there are out there, who are finding life unbearable, and who eventually stop trying to get the help that they know they need, and take the Prozac.

.

Thank God that we ended up insisting upon more ‘unneccessary’ and ‘money-wasting tests’, and that someone in the tropical diseases department noticed the blood tests showed almost no hormones at all….and was intrigued enough to send Big H to the Endocrine department which finally solved the extremely long running puzzle….and without any anti-depressive drugs being needed at all!!!!

.

Life, as they say, is now a beach.

.

Have a sandy one yourself!

J,x.
