The Bedbugs Are Now Infesting British Hotels.

Hi,

.

Did you go away for a romantic weekend in a posh hotel to celebrate Valentine’s day.

Did you bring home wonderful memories ….I hope so….but what else might you have brought home unknowingly.

I really do hate to tell you.

.

I have been waiting for this post to be written ever since I did the report on the plague of bedbugs in America, where even the best hotels and shops are infested.

And homes too!

.

It had to happen here eventually didn’t it.

Bed Bugs are spread so easily in luggage.

People bring them back from holidays abroad and from stays in infested hotels, as well as from the upholstery in cars, taxis, buses and trains.

.

This problem is definitely going to be further spread around during the rush to be in the capital to enjoy the impending Royal Marriage celebrations, and for the Olympics.

Some people will also be bringing their own little visitors with them in their luggage.

It is becoming a plague.

.

There is no way to know how widespread this horrible problem actually is, because the laws here do not demand that these pests be reported.

It is already being suggested that at least 7% of London’s hotel rooms are infested, and that the problem will will quickly get worse.

This is because these bugs breed so quickly that within a few months twelve bedbugs can multiply to  tens of thousands.

.

The number of homes in the UK which are infested by bedbugs, is quickly rising too.

Signs of their presence can be seen in blood spots on bedding, stains left by the droppings and also a noticeable sickly/sweet smell, as  well as by irritation caused by the bites themselves.

.

It does not take them long to infest a hotel and the hapless guests will be carrying the bugs around on their clothes to every place that they visit, including taxis, shops, visitor attractions, shows and pubs.

Soon it will be like America, where nowhere is safe from them.

.

Ever since I wrote about the problem in the USA, I have been unwilling to stay in hotels anywhere if I can avoid doing so, but all of us go out for meals, shows and shopping etc.

It makes you shudder!

.

Hopefully we will try and contain the problem at this point, but no matter how thorough we try to be there are visitors from all over the world entering the country all of the time, and each one is a possible risk, especially  as the things are a fact of life in certain countries.

.

URGHHHHH.

This is definately a close encounter that I can do without

.

So nite-nite, hope the bedbugs don’t bite.

J.
