The Bells Are Ringing.
Hey,
,
Hope that I find you happy today, and also hoping that your year is starting in a good way.
.
My own world is still white, cold and snowy.
.
I am sitting here listening to the church bells calling, as it is a Sunday, and all of the faithful are no doubt rushing to service, all bright eyed and bushy tailed.
People here sometimes complain about church bells but I love hearing them.
My only complaint is that you eventually become so used to such continual sounds that you do not actually register them at all.
Unless I deliberately pay attention, because I want to hear the church clock chiming out the time when I am out in the garden, I do not hear the quarter hours atc,
.
The birds must be hungry at the moment because they are always huddled in the tree when I go out with their food in the mornings and I am seeing Seagulls here now.
There must not be enough to eat at the coast at the moment.
.
This morning I put out bread, oatmeal biscuits and chopped up apples for them all, so I hope that does the trick!
.
Good news for all you harried mums out there.
Save some time…don’t bother washing your children so much.
.
It is now official that it is very healthy to let children be dirty.
.
American scientists have confirmed that the skin can be adversely affected if it is kept squeaky clean.
We can actually interfere with the skin’s ability to heal damage.
This backs up the thinking that if children are exposed to dirt and germs in childhood, then they will build up their immune systems properly, enjoying a healthier life because of it.
.
This excess cleanliness could well be a contributory reason for the worrying number of our children suffering from various allergies now.
.
Also, there is natural bacteria that lives upon the skin, which prevents inflammation occurring when the surface is cut, grazed or otherwise damaged.
Obviously if this is continually washed away then the cuts and grazes can become swollen and inflamed.
.
The scientists’ research findings were published in the journal Nature Medicine.
.
So it is official now.
It’s good to be a bit dirtier!
.
I need to leave you now and begin my Sunday.
Big H can be heard getting up, clashing the toilet seat and slamming doors upstairs, so he will soon appear before me, probably still wearing his Christmas sweater from Guernsey.
He is still totally enamoured with it…and very warm too.
.
He will go out to fetch The Sunday Times, along with a nice bottle of red wine to accompany the sunday roast.
.
We have library books to read, films to watch and the paper to read.
What more could we want!
.
Do have a fine day yourself.
.
Jx
