The Day After The Wedding And The Cartwheeling Verger.

Good Morning,

.

Well, Saturday is here and the madness of the last few days is over, all is back to normal again.

.

Now that it is not so important, the weather has changed again from yesterday’s ‘chilly and threatening-to-rain’ persona, back to blue skies and strong sunshine.

Ideal sort of day for a wedding actually!

.

The sun is so blindingly bright that I have had to move my computer because I could not see the screen properly with such strong sun in my eyes.

.

We went out to get a Chinese takeaway last night, at about eight and there were still two separate groups of people out there celebrating the occasion.

Children were running around with party dresses on and there were heaps of balloons escaping their frenzied little hands.

They will no doubt have enjoyed an unusual day which will leave them with memories of the wedding, to be fondly recalled when they are adults many years hence.

.

I can remember the Queen’s coronation, and a visit she made to the North-East.

We were marched out from infant’s school and taken to stand beside a main road, where we were pushed in a tidy group.

The teachers then issued us with little square paper union jacks on long thin sticks.

.

Eventually we were told to wave them enthusiastically when a big black car came slowly past before disappearing out of sight.

That was it….crap!

We didn’t even understand it all really but it made a change to get out of school for a while.

.

I think that we were given some kind of memento too, but obviously nothing of interest to me because I couldn’t tell you what on earth it actually was.

Obviously sweets would have been more appreciated in those far-off post war days of food rationing.

.

Big H and I managed a little walk last night too.

I met a lovely fat cat.

I wish that I could have an animal of my own again, instead of having to snatch a few moments now and again with other people’s pets.

There actually are cats and dogs with no hair aren’t there, but they are a bit strange, and probably not so good to stroke.

.

I was told that poodles are dogs which do not shed their hair but I am afraid to get to love another dog and then find that I cannot live with a poodle either because it is not fair to have to give your dog away.

Obviously I am still not fully accepting never to have a cat or dog again, but I suppose that I shall have to get used to it as things like spiders and fish do not really do it for me personally….even though tarantulas are supposed to be quite furry….urghhhh.

.

Big H will have to be my only pet now, but at least he is house-trained and reasonably obedient….and sometimes goes out for slow walks with me.

And I don’t have to bother carrying filled doggy-bags either!

.

Hopefully today will contain one such slow perambulation in the slightly hazy sunshine.

What more could I want.

Have yourself a fine weekend too.

J,x.

PS….did you see the clip of the high spirited Verger cartwheeling in the abbey after the wedding was over….
