Have you heard of Alain Robert….an most unusual Frenchman.

Alain is now very famous because he has climbed….and conquered…. 80 of the world’s highest buildings.
And, believe it or not, he does these scary climbs without using any equipment at all, meaning that if he falls then he will risk death.

Only twice did he fail to carry out his climbs, and both times were during attempts to scale the Petronas Towers.
These failures left him determined to finally conquer that particular building, no matter what the cost.

Apart from coping with the pressures and dangers of attempting this climb once more, he also had to cope with the knowledge that doing so would be an illegal act for which he could well be sentanced to a prison term.

The other problem he faced was that in order to get a chance to complete his climb he would need to climb the first 60 stories in secret, without anyone noticing him, or they would report him.
In that case it would all be over for him.

Some reports have apparantly stated that there is also the risk that he could suffer from an epileptic fit while climbing.

He finally succeeded in climbing The Petronas Towers on 1st September 2009.
