Hey,
.
Excellent, it is Saturday again.
Time to rush out and spend more money than you actually earned last week.
That is what keeps the system going.
.
There has been a report issued recently by the Royal College Of Obstetricians And Gynaecologists which is probably going to cause a lot of waves in a subject which causes great dissent between equally passionate people.
.
The results of this study are that a 24 week old foetus cannot feel pain because the brain connections are not developed enough to allow sensations of pain to travel from the periphery to the cortex….this being the site where they can actually be’felt’.
This most recent report also stated that it found the foetus to be in a state of unconsciousness even after the 24 weeks developing in the womb.
.
This must make life harder for the Prime Minister, David Cameron, who previously wanted to cut the 24 week limit on abortion in his vote on the subject in 2008.
His own choice was recently reported to be a limit at 20 or 22 weeks.
.
This probably does not affect the stance held by anti-abortion advocates whose protest is about the termination of life, unconscious or not, given that with modern medical advances some babies have now survived at about 22 weeks.
.
Our present abortion laws were were created in 1967 and have remained in place, although there have been many attempts to change them, the last attempt being put before Parliament in 2008.
It was unsuccessful.
Perhaps the new report will keep it that way.
.
An awful choice that women have to make.
.
Speak to you soon,
J,x.
