Rickets Alert!

Hey,

.

Greetings upon another freezing cold morning.

It was so cold last night that we had a small fall of snow again…and then again.

Stop it this minute….I don’t like it anymore!!

.

Where is the summer, I cannot wait for warmth and sunshine.

At least I am not afraid of the sun, and I walk around in it happily, absorbing the rays without sunblock.

As I have said a few times previously, I think that we are meant to get a very gradual tan as we go around the place doing our daily tasks or just walking about etc., it is this business of lying and relentlessly baking in the sun for many hours that I don’t like doing.

And also, I don’t think we are meant to be careless in a sunshine which is different in intensity from the place that we are naturally born into.

.

This has been proved to my own satisfaction over the last few years.

We have now become so conditioned by the media to be terrified of the sun’s rays, that people are now suffering from ailments and conditions caused primarily by the modern trend of being so terrified of sunshine.

.

It never seems to occur to anyone that it is very profitable for the companies who sell the suntan products as well…. and the self-tanning products, and the sunbeds etc.

.

There have been many findings which show that there is an awful price to pay for this, because Vitamin D is so necessary for our continued good health….and we produce it naturally when we are in the sunshine.

Vitamin D deficiency is now affecting large numbers of people… we have a resurgence of a bone disease called Rickets in children…..even in people such as Gwyneth Paltrow etc.

.

The latest case is one concerning a 12 year old girl from Sandown on the Isle Of Wight.

.

Just recently it was publicised that Tyler Attrill had undergone a hip operation in 2010.

.

When she did not make a good recovery, as was expected, tests were done to try and identify the problem.

.

In November, the results led to the discovery that she has a vitamin deficiency that is linked to the bone disease called Rickets, this being identified as the cause of Tyler’s failure to mend properly.

She is one more child to add to the ever increasing numbers of people who are harbouring a problem thought to have been permanently eradicated in the 1940’s.

.

Tyler’s mother is a nurse.

In order to protect her daughter from the sun she had been using a sunscreen assiduously.

It was a Factor-50 and it did a sterling job of keeping out the sunlight!

.

She was simply a caring Mum doing what she was continually being advised to do, to protect her precious child properly.

.

Sunshine is a blessing, not a curse!
